Minutes of the meeting held at 7pm on Monday 10th May 2010, at Bardney Heritage Centre.

Present: Catherine Wilson, Malcolm Boyes, Dennis & Glynis Creasey, Marjorie Woodcock, Janice Smith.

3 / Minutes of the last meeting:
The chairperson read the minutes and these were signed as a true record.
4 / Matters Arising:
  • The new criteria for bank signatories (6.2) has been added to the Constitution.

  • Discussion took place on the scope of our historical research. It was unanimously agreed to add ‘and surrounding area’ to the Constitutional Aims.

  • Lynn was still trying to find the best option for a bank account. Ideally the one which offers minimal cost.

  • As Kim was not present, no further information was available with regard to fund raising.

  • A long discussion took place around insurance (i.e. personal liability for borrowed items) It was resolved to enquire with Lincoln Archives or other body, to find out their criteria when loaning any artefacts.

  • The website was placed into the BHG, as of 25th April. Considering the change to cover’ surrounding areas, this will need to be reviewed. The Chairperson requested that all members cast a critical eye over it and help to keep it accurate.

5 / Correspondence (email):
The Chairperson advised that we had four email responses to the website since the last meeting. These included:
  • 14-04-2010 Kevin Margarve – Sloop Inninformation
  • 30-04-2010 Paul Woodcock – Nag’s Head information
  • 25-05-2010 Laurie Allan (Canada) – Townell family
  • 03-05-2010 Phil Leadbetter – Smitheringale family
  • Visit by Ray Goulsbra – ex Bardney resident

6 / Any Other Business:
  • The Chairperson suggested a more flexible agenda for all but the AGM. This was agreed. A joint agenda will be issued for the next meeting.

  • One item required to be added will be projects, since one of our main Aims is research. Each person present was asked for their interests, (See 7.), such that it avoids repetition and progress can be monitored.

  • A question was raised about the start time of the meetings. After discussion, it was agreed to keep them at 19-00hrs.

  • Had we got a system for archiving/storing original documents? Lynn assured that archiving was being done. Any originals would be photocopied (if funds allow) and originals donated to Lincoln Archive.

  • Discussion took place on purchase of a Fiche Reader. The Chairperson said that he had one which he would donate. The purchase of fiches would depend on demand and funding.

  • The meeting was advised of a forthcoming event at Southrey. Jenny Parker is giving a talk on the ‘River Witham’ on 16th June at Southrey Village Hall (19-00 for 19-30hrs)

  • The meeting was advised of a forthcoming event at Bardney Heritage Centre. Open Day on 16th May (all day) with many interesting items. Kev Rouane will be showing some metal-detecting finds from the local area.

  • On 18th May, Rod Knight will be giving a talk on the Railways. It is important to pre-book a place for this, as demand is expected to be high.
