POSITION TITLE : / Senior Business Systems Analyst

PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES
The methodical investigation, analysis and documentation of all or part of the Canterbury Health System business in terms of business functions and processes, the specification of systems to support workflow, and the provision of information they use. Acting as the pivot or intermediary between end-users and IT to ensure that business/user requirements are delivered

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Task / Drive PAS, Clinical System and/or Business System best practice
Expected Result / ·  Encourage best practice in all aspects of system deployments through support and mentoring of each individual BSA
·  Drive commonality of best practice across multiple products
·  Help to ensure that the delivery of service is consistent across the Applications Support Team
·  Functional leadership for core systems
·  Oversight of all system changes
·  Ensure enhancement requests are prioritised
·  Ensure business communication is effective and timely around application enhancements.
·  Ensure change control procedures are adhered to and progressed in a timely manner.
·  Meeting with user groups to gather and analyse end user requirements.
·  Analysing workflow to create process maps and isolate areas of potential improvement.
·  Developing functional specifications that design and document desired outcome of system enhancement/development.
·  Producing technical specifications to communicate user requirements in technical terms to analyst programmers/project team.
·  Coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the overall efficiency, functionality and user friendliness of system enhancement/development.
·  Preparing material and providing training and assistance to end-users following implementation.
·  Working as a crucial component of a project team responsible for enhancing existing systems or developing new systems.
Task / Provide technical and business expertise for system consolidation
Expected Result / ·  Strong participation in the selection and implementation of core products
·  Drive the integration of core and specialty applications
·  Support all transitional activities during any consolidation projects
·  Ensure that business and IS interests are represented in any consolidation projects
Task / Where a change to a system or a new system is required, work with key people from the business to identify and analyse their business requirements, to assist them to examine different solutions, and specify clearly what they want from the solution in relation to enhancements, acquisitions, and implementation.
Expected Result / ·  Analysis of business process is completed, through interaction with key staff involved in the business process.
·  A gap analysis, complete with business impact, and identification of critical requirements, will be documented as required.
·  Possible solutions are explored with technical staff to ensure feasibility and accuracy of change impact reports.
·  Ensure the solution is clearly documented so that a technical expert can make the changes without having to rely on assumptions.
·  Undertake appropriate Unit Testing and Integration Testing
·  Identify where the business process could benefit from changes and report these to the process owner and liaise with process staff where appropriate.
·  Assist the business process owner to identify where training, orientation, policies and procedures need to be modified and create templates for these changes.
·  All systems changes meet the critical business requirements when implemented.
Task / Maintain and develop report specifications that developers are able to comprehend and produce appropriate reports from.
Expected Result / ·  Undertake role of business analyst to determine report requirements.
·  Determine if existing reports will satisfy users request for information.
·  Evaluate and present likely report options if standard reports not available.
·  Develop comprehensive report specifications that meet users requirements
·  Undertake appropriate Unit Testing and Integration Testing of newly developed reports.
·  Comprehensively document all relevant specifications and test results.
·  Communicate effectively to all likely users the existence and functionality of all newly developed reports.
Task / Provide operational support for applications as appropriate.

·  Reporting is made to the project manager as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

The appointee will have the following personal qualities, qualifications and experience:
·  At least 5 - 7 years of experience in IT, with at least 3 years experience in a business environment, coupled with tertiary level qualifications in Business, Science, Engineering or Economics.
·  Strong ability to converse with both end-users and IT employees at all levels of the organisation.
·  Good understanding of all aspects of the systems/software development lifecycle.
·  Technical knowledge of programming, system design, IT infrastructure and database concepts.
·  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
·  Sound ability to analyse, isolate and interpret business needs and develop appropriate technical solutions.
·  Sound technical specification writing/documentation skills.
·  An appreciation of both IT and business strategy.
·  Strong customer service focus.
·  4 years industry experience in a Business Analysis role.
·  Proven analysis skills
·  Proven facilitation skills
·  Have experience in systems evaluation, design and implementation
