Everyday Evangelism – Community Evangelism
Deanna Allen, Founder Abundant Place
Workshop Description: Evangelism is not just a Sunday thing. Monday – Saturday there are opportunities all around us. Learn how to let your present moment be your pulpit. Through this community evangelism approach you will grow your church from the outside in.
“And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of buildings that have laid waste for many generations; and you shall be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets to dwell in.” Isaiah 58:12
“For the hurt of the daughter of my people I am hurt. I am mourning; Astonishment has taken hold of me. Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no recovery for the health of the daughter of my people?” Jeremiah 8:21-22 NKJV
Objectives:
- Reach the Lost
- Restore the Broken
- Reconcile and Repair the Family
- Build A Successful Community
Our present moment is our pulpit. What does that mean?
Share my story of my dad getting ill and taking time “off from ministry” and being asked if I was disappointed that I had to put ministry on hold.
1)Reach the Lost: Where are the lost located? Everywhere
How often can they be found there? All the time
How many of our congregation members go there regularly? Everyday
How equipped would you say your congregation members are to share their story? How easy is it to get community members plugged in to the services/ministries offered at your church?
2)Restore the Broken:
What best fits the vision you have for your congregation?
How many responders do you currently have in place?
What is the priority of the Senior Pastor?
How much time and energy can be given in the restoration process? It takes time! Who has it? Phrase – how about now?
What programs, studies, small groups, counseling, resources are available and within your immediate reach?
Healing & Deliverance, Recovery, Counseling, Bible Studies, Fellowship, Discipleship, Community Social Interactions
3)Reconcile and Repair the Family
What do you think of when I say reconciliation? Separation, Divorce
What are some ways a family can become fractured?
Where does the split family spend their time?
What are their needs?
“God has restored our relationship with him through Christ, and has given us this ministry of restoring relationships. In other words, God was using Christ to restore his relationship with humanity. He didn’t hold people’s faults against them, and he has given us this message of restored relationships to tell others.” (2 Cor. 5:18-19 GW)
4)Build a Successful Community
What types of outreach events in the community do you do?
What types could you do?
Think of the places your members spend their time in the community
What if your whole community needs restoration?
I love the model we find in Nehemiah
