Music In Stores

In the Goody’s clothing store in LaFollette, the mood of the music is very relaxing. The mood it sets makes me feel old because it is very slow almost like elevator music. Though while the store is mostly for elder folks, it still has a section for the younger ones as well. The music though is more of a slow, basic, tempo. It is like music from the “golden years”. Only the elders could recognize what it was. It was the kind of music used for putting little children to sleep. It does not make me want to shop; rather, I want to lie down and rest.

In the Lowe’s store, there is a great change in the mood of the music that is played. Considering the fact that this is a redneck area, the music that was played was country music. The mood of the music, when I walk in, makes me feel like putting away my makeup and jewelry and putting on some boots and working with tools or building a tree house. It feels more like a slow, but faster pace.

At the place where I get my hair done, the music they play is country music on the radio. The beat goes from different slow and sad to fast and exhilarating. It really does not help me relax while they are styling my hair. It makes me feel uncomfortable because I am not a country music fan; there are only certain songs I like that are country.

In my gas station, the music they play is more fast beat and it gets me stirring. They play a bit of rock ‘n’ roll and country together. It makes me want to move at a faster pace and see what my car has on the road.

In the Goodwill store, their music is about the same as Goody’s, but theirs’ is definitely more for older folks. It makes me feel like everything I try on is from an older person. I feel like their clothes are not clean and that I do not belong in this store because I am too young.

Overall, the stores music changes from slow tempo to fast to faster tempo. Most of the stores are basically the same when it comes to music. In the clothing stores, their music is basically slow beat unless you go to the malls, then their music is just out right ridiculous. The hardware stores are slow, but a little fast at the same time. The hair stores have almost the same music as the hardware stores, but more sutle. The gas stations are the fastest beat because it is all about your vehicle. You want to push it to the medal. Each store has a different genre of music it plays because they want to set a certain mood for the store so you will tempted to return and give them business.
