Dr. Saguil Received His B.A. in Chemistry from Duke University and His M.D. from the University

Colonel Aaron Saguil, MD, MPH, FAAFP currently serves as the Associate Dean for Recruitment and Admissions at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Saguil is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and is on the faculty of the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital Family Medicine Residency.

Dr. Saguil received his B.A. in Chemistry from Duke University and his M.D. from the University of Florida College of Medicine. After completing his internship and residency at DeWitt Army Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, he was stationed in Germany as the Medical Director for the United States Army Health Clinic, Grafenwoehr. He was then selected for, and completed, the Faculty Development Fellowship at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington, where he also earned his Master of Public Health degree. Afterwards, he served as the Assistant Program Director of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center Family Medicine Residency in Fort Gordon, Georgia. During that time, he was deployed to Afghanistan and served as the Chief of Primary Care for the NATO Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit in Kandahar, Afghanistan. His actions in theater were recognized with the Bronze Star and the Canadian Chief of Defense Staff Commendation.

Dr. Saguil joined the USU faculty in 2010 as an assistant professor in family medicine and was selected for his current position as Associate Dean for Recruitment and Admissions in September 2012. In this position, Dr. Saguil is responsible for the recruitment and matriculation of students to the school of medicine, fulfilling the Office of Recruitment and Admission’s vision: USU SOM will be the premier choice in medical training for individuals of integrity passionate about selflessly serving those in harm’s way and their families in war and peace and for those students dedicated to becoming the future clinicians, leaders, and scholars of the nation’s medical force.

Dr. Saguil remains clinically active at Fort Belvoir, continues to teach in the Department of Family Medicine, and is a member of the Long Term Career Outcomes Study Group.

Dr. Saguil, and his wife Elizabeth Saguil reside in Bethesda with their two sons.
