Monday: As you write your spelling words, sort them into these groups: er, ir, & ur, long /u/, and High Frequency Words (HFW). Then, write meaningful sentences (declaratives) using the first 3 vocabulary words.
Tuesday: Which of the spelling words rhyme? (Hint: there are 3 pairs). Write your spelling words in ABC order. Write meaningful sentences using vocabulary
words #4-6.
Wednesday: Using your best printing, sort & write the following spelling words: A)Which of your spelling words are action verbs? B) Can you find antonyms (opposite meanings) for these adjectives: pretty, young, first? C) Find & write down the nouns and proper nouns. D) Look up the definition of “term”. How many meanings does this word have? Write meaningful sentences (declaratives or interrogatives) for vocabulary words #8-10.
Thursday: Study your spelling & vocabulary words so you’re ready for Friday’s test. Note: If you got 100 % on the spelling pretest, you will not need to do the Monday spelling portion of the homework, but you MUST do the vocabulary activities. Instead of the spelling words, please choose 3 words on my “Tricky Word List” and make a picture dictionary that includes a meaningful sentence & meaningful question. (See “Tricky Word List” sheet for instructions)
