Upon the recommendation of <name>, Chair of the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Department of Dept/School> and the Faculty Search Committee, I am pleased to offer you a full-time, 100% FTE, benefit-eligible, nine or twelve-month tenure-track <tenured> appointment as an Assistant, Associate Professor in <field> at an annual 9-month salary of $<amount>, effective September 1, 20<year>.

You may elect to receive your salary paid to you over the nine-month period from September through May, or over a twelve-month period from September through August. Your first payroll will be issued on September 30, 20<year>. It is understood and agreed that your salary of $<amount> is for nine months of service during the academic year.

You will also be reimbursed for your actual allowable moving expense receipts up to 10% of your annual salary, not to exceed $10% of salary. This offer is for a tenure-track position with # years credit toward tenure, and is subject to the tenure, promotion, and other policies and procedures which are in effect on the effective date of this appointment. During each year of your probationary period, which under the Academic Tenure Regulations may not exceed a total of six (6) years in the rank of Assistant Professor, your performance in teaching, scholarly activities, and service will be expected to demonstrate that your appointment should be renewed for another year. Your progress will be evaluated annually and the results shared with you. An internal, third-year review is an important assessment of your progress toward tenure and will be conducted during Spring/Summer of 20<year>. Your mandatory review for promotion and tenure will commence in the spring and summer of 20<year>, and end with tenure notification to you no later than July 31, 20<year>.

Your work assignments and teaching load for the first year will be <work assignments & teaching load>. Upon your acceptance of this offer, UMKC Human Resources will send you a request for documentation necessary to establish your UMKC ID card, email, Library and Blackboard access; please respond quickly with the necessary forms and supporting documentation to avoid access delays. You will also receive detailed information regarding a schedule of Pre-Employment Benefit sessions held the week beginning August <date>, 20<year>. It is necessary that you attend one of these sessions to complete the employment process.

The University requires that we maintain an official copy of your higher education transcripts. You must hold a Ph.D. prior to the appointment effective date. Your appointment is contingent upon verification of your degrees.
