Angel in the Garden

My friend keeps an angel in her garden
Stands there by the fence
Casts a light so bright against the dark of night
A beacon to the bugs everywhere
Now she believes in God and all his glory
Says her source of strength comes down from up above
She’s filled with his love as she goes about her day
And you can hear her say / 4
An angel in the garden
An angel in the house
Jeff sure is a lucky man
to have her for a spouse
The beacon to the bugs
can see her through the window
At the end of the day
It watches as she prays
2
[Chorus]
God is good
God is grand
We’re all down here as part of his plan
God is grand
Yea, God is good
God lives in my neighborhood / 5
[Chorus; 3 part harmonies]
God is good
God is grand
We’re all down here as part of his master plan
God is grand
Yea, god is good
God lives in my neighborhood
3
Now once upon a time
Not so far away
She met her love
And music filled their day
When friends are feeling down
She hops in her car and drives around
To brighten up their day
She’ll chase their frowns away.
[Instrumental break] / 6
God is good
Yea, God is grand
Look to your brother
Then go take his hand
God is grand
Yea, god is good
God lives in your neighborhood
God lives in our neighborhood.

Angel in the Garden (by jpearson; copyright 2004); My friends, Deb & Jeff, recently landscaped their property. A very spiritual couple, they had placed a small statue of an angel in their garden that glows in the dark. They used to own a music store and we often get together to play acoustic guitar and sing. Deb's been running around a lot lately, playing nurse to friends and family members (no specifics here - that would be a major HIPPA violation). This song essentially wrote itself.

Featured instruments: Taylor 655 CE 12 string with ES (Expression System) pickup; Taylor 814 BCE with ES system (lead guitar); Fender Stratocaster (for the bass line), and (now) 47 year old vocal cords attempting some 3 part harmony. [Interesting note: it's difficult to sing the word "God" and not have it come out sounding like "cod." ]
