Honored Person
Donald James was borned in Strong, Maine in 1918 and moved to Phillips in 1925. He now resides in Avon. He shared 54 years of his life with his wife Nedra, who passed in 1987. He has 2 sons Peter and Kevin, 6 grandchildren and 4 ½ great grandchildren . He owned and operated his own business in Phillips , the Funeral Home for 25 years. Drove school bus for SAD 58, for 7 years and did carpentry work, and he was in the army, WWII for 4yrs,9mo,10days
Don is a member of The Masons, The American Legion, and Congregational Church. Don is a past member of The Men’s Club and also The Phillips Area Chamber of Commerce. He was appointed once as president of the Chamber nominated by his good friend Pete Pillsbury, when he wasn’t even there. He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America.
