SJ & IC MISSION COOP: This weekend, July 15th & 16th, our parishes will host a speaker for the Alliance for International Monasticism (AIM USA). Please welcome, Sister Theresa Glass, OSB, from Benedictine Sisters of Erie PA. She is the representative who will share with you some of the work of AIM USA and the 450 English-speaking Benedictine and Cistercian monasteries in Africa, Asia, Central, and South America in alliance with AIM USA. These Benedictine and Cistercian women and men form centers of prayer, education, health and agriculture in some of the poorest regions the word. This special collection will be taken up next weekend, July 22/23. Use the special Mission Coop collection envelope; it is the last envelope in your pack dated December 31, 2017.

SJ: Congratulations! I take this opportunity to thank all who contributed to the 2017 Catholic Ministries Drive. This week we received additional donations that helped us meet and surpass our target. Total pledges so far $12,890.00 and cash received $11,210.00. So, if the money pledged is received, we will have surpassed our target amount by $288.00. May our good and gracious God bless all for your generosity.
IC: We have received additional donations towards our Catholic Ministries Drive. To date, $13,590.00 have been pledged towards our target of $14,646.00. We are still short $1,056.00. I take this opportunity to encourage all to help us meet and exceed our target amount. I am very thankful for your generosity.
SJ: Our annual Parish Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017. We need help from all parishioners to make it a grand success. If you can volunteer your time on picnic day, please the sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board or call Pam at the rectory at 495-5241. SOMETHING NEW THIS YEAR: Become a Helping Hand! To help defray the cost of operating expenses – check out the bulletin board in the gathering space of the church. Please select a requested item from the surrounding wall and sign the sheet with the matching number along with your name and phone number. Please return all items by placing them in the bins in the gathering space of the church. Gob ingredients need to be returned by August 15th and all other things by August 20th. Thank you for lending a helping hand for our church picnic.
If anyone would like to donate a "Gift Card" (restaurants, grocery stores, Sheetz, etc.) for our "Gift Certificate" booth, please just drop off at rectory/in collection basket. Tip Seal Booth items are needed. If you have any handmade or other items, please call Violet 495-4084. “ThemeBaskets” are needed for our picnic. Money can also be donated and the committee will buy the items to make up the baskets. Just drop the money in the collection basket in a marked envelope. Cooler of Cheer: If anyone has any unopened bottles of liquor and would like to donate them for the Cooler of Cheer, please bring them to the rectory as soon as possible.
OUTDOOR MASS: Father John D. Byrnes, Rector, and the Parish Family of St. Michael the Archangel Basilica, Loretto, invite the faithful to join us each Sunday evening at 7 PM for the outdoor Sunday Mass at the beautiful Shrine of Our Lady of the Alleghenies in Loretto. The Sunday evening Mass will continue through Labor Day Weekend, September 3, 2017. Please bring a lawn chair. In the event of inclement weather, the Mass will be held in the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel. Bishop Mark will preside on Sunday, July 23 and August 6, 2017.
RESURRECTION PARISH is sponsoring GROOVIN AT THE GROVE on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Music by Ground Zero and on Saturday, August 19th, 2017, music by Flood City Brass. Both events are from 7 PM to 10 PM at their picnic grove in Tanneryville (926 Cooper Ave). Free parking and admission – rain or shine. Good music with good food and drink. An outdoor mass will be celebrated before both concerts at 5:30 PM. Gate opens at 5 PM.
ST. BARTHOLOMEW BASKET PARTY will be held on Sunday, July 30th, at St. Bartholomew Church Hall, 185 Church Hill Road, Wilmore, PA. Doors open at Noon, the chancing off of the baskets will be at 2 PM. Dessert and refreshments will be served. Door Prize is a 42 inch TV. All are welcome.
ANNUAL ANNIVERSARY DAY LITURGY: All couples celebrating their 1st, 5, 10, 25th, 40th, 50th, 55th and 60+ Wedding Anniversary in 2017 (and their families) are welcome to attend the Annual Anniversary Day Liturgy with Bishop Mark. You may attend either Sunday, Sept. 17th at St. John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown or Sunday, Sept. 10th at theCathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona. Both locations are handicap accessible. Both liturgies begin at 2 PM with refreshments after the mass for couples/families. Reservations must be made through our parish office. Call Pam at the rectory 495-5241.
