Salary: £22,000 - £25,000 pro rata

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Based: Bristol, although travel to London and more widely around the UK may be required

Reports to: Senior Research Analyst

Contract: Fixed term until 30th June 2011 (with the possibility to extend)

Job description

Role Summary: To contribute methodological, analytical and administrative support to a range of evaluation, research and consultancy projects undertaken by CAADA.

Duties & Key Responsibilities

  1. To work with internal departments and external partners to scope and plan research and evaluation projects.
  2. To use knowledge of research methods and quantitative and qualitative methodologies to contribute to project design, and the development of research tools such as questionnaires and interview schedules.
  3. To undertake the collection of data using quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  4. To analyse quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate methods.
  5. To interpret and draw conclusions from a range of data sources.
  6. To write and contribute to reports and papers as required.
  7. Under the direction of senior colleagues, to take day-to-day responsibility for specific aspects of research projects, ensuring that they are completed within agreed timescales.
  8. To contribute to the dissemination of research and evaluation findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  9. To keep up-to-date with research literature relevant to projects and relevant new developments in research methodology.
  10. To carry out other tasks as required to support the Insights team.

In order to undertake this role we require the following skills and experience;

Skills and experience

  1. A graduate/postgraduate qualification in a relevant social science discipline or an equal level of knowledge and experience.*
  2. Good understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods and methodologies*
  3. Experience of all aspects of data collection.*
  4. Experience in managing large datasets.
  5. Experience of developing and piloting a range of research tools.
  6. Proven ability to analyse and draw meaning from quantitative and qualitative data.*
  7. Experience of using SPSS to undertake analysis of qualitative data.*
  8. Sound IT skills including knowledge and experience of Microsoft Work, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.*
  9. Experience of producing written reports for a range of stakeholders.*
  10. Ability to deal with a range of stakeholders at different levels.
  11. Excellent time management and organisational skills including the ability to meet tight deadlines.*
  12. Self starter with the ability to use their initiative and judgement in dealing with colleagues without direct supervision.*
  13. Strong team player with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills both in written and oral form.*
  14. A commitment to improving the response to domestic violence.*
