Pilot Testing Procedures to Follow4th Grade (Wilson):
1)Remove all information displayed on classroom walls or bulletin boards that might help students answer questions.
2)Keep all cell phones in classroom before going to computer lab. If using a laptop cart, please have all students place cell phones in bags and place bags securely in the back of the room. No cell phone should be in the reach of a student during testing. Students may bring pens and pencils to write on scratch paper to the computer lab and/or have them at their desks.
3)Please pass out scratch paper (provided by school administration).
4)Log onto the TA interface ( Pilot Test School TA Interface). Email from SMARTER Balance has TIDE log-in information.
5)Create Test Session for appropriate Test (G4 Math 1 PT)
6)Write down Test Session ID on board where students can see it.
7)Ask students to log into computer with username “testing” and password “smart”
8)**After the students log in to the Mac computers, they will need to check and see if there is a white dot underneath any of the icons in the doc (except for finder). The doc is the row of icons at the bottom of the screen. The test will not work if any other program/application is running. You need to have the student click on the icon with the white dot underneath and then shut the program down properly, by clicking on the program’s name in the uppermost left hand corner and selecting “Quit.” Tech support staff will be there to assist with this on the first day.**
9)Please pass out STUDENT INFORMATION CARD cards with student log-in information.Follow Script in Manual (scripts start on p. 30).
10)Ask students to access SBAC secure browser (Icon at bottom ofscreen):
11)Have students log-in using information on theirSTUDENT Information card (Must be exact) and the session ID
12)Collect STUDENT INFORMATION CARD and keep secure. If students pause the test to go to the bathroom, they will need this card to re-enter the session.
13)Approve students for testing.
14)Monitor students throughout testing to make sure student eyes are on the appropriate computer.
15)5-8 minutes before the end of the testing session warn students that the session will end soon and they should review any completed or flagged items.
16)Students should pause the test at the end of testing session (if they have not completed the test).
17)At the end of each testing session, stop the testing session and logout.
18)Collect all scratch paper and destroy securely (follow directions given by school administration; there should be a box in each room for these materials.
Training Test Instructions
1)In order to become familiar with the test components and technology, we highly recommend that students take the sample training test.
2)Log onto the Training Test ( TestSchool Training Site). Email from SMARTER Balance has TIDE log-in information.
3)Create Test Session for appropriate Test (G4 Math 1 PT)

12)Collect STUDENT INFORMATION CARD and keep secure(unless students will be using it to sign-in to the Pilot Test immediately after the training).

1)After all students have finished testing and have submitted their answers, please have students exit secure browser.
2)Please pass out survey monkey instructions.
3)Please ask students to answer all questions honestly and to provide us with as much information as they can.
4)Please collect survey monkey instructions to use with next class.
