Catalina Island Marine Institute Trip
Itinerary
Thursday Oct 19 – 11:30 PM – Meet at Basha High School by tennis courts
Friday Oct 20 – 12:05 AM – Leave Basha High School
-If students are not on the bus in time, they will not go and not be refunded.
7:00 AM – Arrive at Long Beach. Students need money for breakfast.
9:30 AM – Boat leaves long beach
11:00 AM – Arrive at Catalina Island Marine Institute
12:00 PM – Lunch – Students bring a sack lunch
Afternoon – Program
Saturday Oct 21 - All Day – Program
Sunday Oct 22 - Morning – Program
Approx. 11:30 – Leave Catalina
2:00 PM – Arrive at Long Beach – board busses
Approx. 7:00 PM – Stop in Blythe for dinner – students need money
Approx. 11:00 PM – 11:30 PM – Arrive at Basha High School at tennis courts
Notes:
- Student can bring cell phone, however there is no reception on the island. There is a pay phone. It is helpful to call when we get back in town on Sunday night.
- Spending money is useful. There is a souvenir shop at CIMI. Students will absolutely need dinner on Sunday night.
- No medications will be given unless specified on the health form. Pack Dramamine if sea sickness is an issue.
- If your student is asthmatic, they must carry their inhaler to CIMI. If they do not have it, they will not be able to do any of the snorkels. CIMI is very strict about this.
- We room in dorms. The doors do not have locks, so it is not recommended that your child bring valuables (iPods, etc). If they do, bring locks for the suitcase.
- Students like to bring snacks. It is OK, however, the ants on the island love them, too. Please seal them in Ziploc bags to keep ants away.
