John 10:7-21
- Jesus is the Door of the Sheep (v. 7-10)
- I AM = ego eimi (ἐγώεἰμι)—the Covenant Name of God (Ex. 3:14)
- Jesus literally is the door of the sheep…the only entrance into and out of the sheep fold of God—John 14:6; cf. Acts 4:12; 1 Cor. 1:30; 3:11; 1 Tim. 2:5
- Life, and have it abundantly means both eternally & today
- “It’s not enough to believe in life after death…we better start believing in life before death!” (Paul David Tripp)
- Contrasting with the thieves and robbers who come only to steal and kill and destroy God’s sheep, who are the Phariseesand other Jewish Religious Leaders
- Jesus is the Good Shepherd of the Sheep (v. 11-18)
- Jesus is “good” because He is willing to die for His sheep—Rom. 6:23; cf. Rom. 5:8, 10; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24; 3:18
