General Information

The ML910™ RUGGED NOTEBOOK COMPUTER base configurations offer many attractive features, including choices of Intel® Core™ Duo or Core™2 Duo processor and 80GB or 120GB 3D shock mounted Hard Disk Drive (HDD) with heater. Several industry-leading features are standard equipment on all configurations: 13.3" wide XGA (16:9) touch screen, ATI Radeon Mobility X1400 Graphical Processor Unit (GPU) with 128 MB dedicated memory, full-travel backlit keyboard, PCMCIA to Express 34 Card converter, 802.11abg Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, and finger print sensor. The ML910™ RUGGED NOTEBOOK is cellular-ready (embedded carrier modems are optional), includes 1GB memory as standard with up to 4GB optional, and includes an AC adapter.

Intent to Cancel Intel® Core™ Duo Processor Options (ONLY)

This notice provides information concerning the impending cancellation of the two (2) Core Duo model/options for the ML910 RUGGED NOTEBOOK.This affects the Intel Core Duo processor options ONLY. The Intel® Core™ 2 Duo options continue to be available for sale.

Recent Price Page Updates:
1) The ZA00615AA option (Core Duo without GPS) was removed 3/7/2009.
2) Intent to Cancel the PRM240 Private DataTAC modem option (ZA00619AA) was issued 11/18/2008. That option was removed from the price page on 12/17/2008. The PRM240 was one of the optional integrated Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) modems. Please refer to the Cancellation Notice for more information.
3) The special ML910-VRM 850 marketing packages (FLN3150 and FLN3151) were cancelled and removed from the price page on 11/18/2008. While supplies last, VRM 850s will continue to be sold under their standard nomenclature. These marketing packages included a 10' DB-9 M-F cable for connecting the ML910 to the VRM 850. Refer to the VRM 850 Price Page to order the discrete model and required DTE cable as an accessory.

Migration from R1.0 (Windows XP) to R1.1 (Windows Vista Business)
ML910 RUGGED NOTEBOOKS ordered after June 30, 2008 ship with a Microsoft® Windows Vista™ COA (Certificate of Authenticity) and Recovery media, allowing qualified customers who choose the downgrade-to-XP option to upgrade later to Vista Business. R1.0 notebooks that shipped prior with the Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional COA will require an ML910 firmware and software upgrade from R1.0 to R1.1 in order to enable migration from XP Pro to Vista Business. The ML910 upgrade package is available for download from the ML910 information page on Motorola's public access web site (copy & paste in browser if necessary): This package does not include the Microsoft Windows Vista Business edition operating system, which must be procured by the customer.

Important Notice regarding PCMCIA Carrier Card Compatibility: Certain PCMCIA Carrier Card modems have demonstrated incompatibility with the ML910 RUGGED NOTEBOOK. Sales teams are encouraged to understand the intended use case of the ML910 RUGGED NOTEBOOK in conjunction with PCMCIA Cards, advise customers of potential issues, and assist customers to find an alternate solution with eitheracompatible PCMCIA Card or theoptional embedded carrier modem. Ordering:The ML910 RUGGED NOTEBOOK is "built to order." Select the specific configuration and options you require. Each ML910 ships with an AC adapter – order HKLN4309A if a spare AC adapter is required.

Warranty: The standard computer carries a full-coverage 3 year warranty. The battery is considered a consumable item and carries a 1 year warranty.

Return Policy

Motorola Radio Products & Service Division standard return policy applies to the ML910 RUGGED NOTEBOOK and is available for review at This policy states that returns will be charged a 20% restockingfee and will be accepted only for "new and in the box" equipment returned within 45 days of delivery. This policy applies to all MW800, MW810, ML850, ML900 and ML910 products.

GPS Note: For optimal coverage performance in a vehicle installation, Motorola recommends that the RF pass thru option (ZA00618AA, listed below in the OPTIONS section) and a vehicle docking station with RF pass thru (model number HKLN4388A) be ordered when a CPU with GPS is selected. When using GPS (ZA00614AA or ZA00777AA) in a HKLN4388A dock an external GPS antenna (8508851K45) must be installedor the automatic switching feature must be disabled. Must Select One Operating System / Hard Drive

Orders for Windows XP Professional are no longer accepted, effective July 1, 2008. If your customer requires Windows XP Professional, the following options with Microsoft terms and conditions (applicable for all OEMS) are available:
1) All customers may order Windows Vista Business and exercise their right to downgrade to Windows XP Professional on their own.
2) Business, Government and Educational sector customers may request that Motorola install the downgrade to Windows XP Professional image at our factory by ordering one of those options directly from Motorola or through one of our indirect channel partners. Per the Microsoft policy the expectation is these end user customers will purchase at least 25 ML910 RUGGED NOTEBOOKS within 12 months.

Since Motorola is only authorized to distribute ML910 RUGGED NOTEBOOKS with a Windows XP Professional downgrade image installed to end users, distributors that would resell ML910 RUGGED NOTEBOOKS to unidentified end users are not qualified for option # 2, and must choose option # 1.

ML900 Support The docking stations listed below have been designed and optimized for use with the ML910 notebook computer, but are also compatible with previous ML900 models that do not require RF pass-thru. Pleasenote the RF pass-thru facility on the high-tier model HKLN4388 (formerly ordered as HKLN4317)interfaces only with new ML910 notebooks, i.e.RF pass-thru for ML900 notebooksis not provided.ML900s will also require a new USB-to-Fast Ethernet Controller software driver to usethe Ethernet (RJ45)port on the ML910 docking stations.

ML900 Docking Station Retrofit Kit This kit is ordered through Motorola Drop Ship, to add RF connectors to compatible ML900 docking stations for ML910 RF pass-through operation. This kit may also be used to upgrade a ML910 Mid Tier dock (HKLN4310 or HKLN4389) to add the RF pass-through feature. This kit is designed to be field installed by a qualified technician, and will take about 15-30 minutes to complete. Please note that this kit will not work with the original ML900 series docks (DDN7501A and DDN7502A), but is intended for the subsequent series (DDN7501B, DDN7501C, DDN7502B, and DDN7502C).
