Description of Entity: College Sports Business News is a new entity that recently launched a website: The website compiles topical collegiate sports business news from around the nation and organizes them according to various topics such as sports business, marketing, media, and law. The site provides a one stop forum for individuals who need to be kept current on issues involving collegiate sports business. Viewers of the site will include all those working in college athletic departments, coaches, administrators, general counsel, college athletic conferences, professional associations for individuals involved in all aspects of collegeathletics, sport management faculty and students, and suppliers and vendors of college sports products and services.

Locations of Internships: The internship assignments can be accomplished online from remote locations. CSBN partners are located in the following areas:Philadelphia, PA; Kennebunk, ME; and, Caldwell, NJ

Position Description:

  • Research and draft daily summaries of key developments and stories involving the business of collegiate athletics for publication on new internet website: College Sports Business News.
  • Assist columnists with article research, writing and editing.
  • Draft one substantive article (approximately 3- 5 pages) every two weeks on a college sports business topic to be assigned.
  • Conduct one telephonic or in-person interview with a collegiate business person every two weeks to be summarized for publication.
  • Assist in the development of an email database of prospective subscribers.
  • Assist in the initial marketing and development of advertisements for the website.

Terms of Relationship: Unpaid student internship for class credit as determined by college or university

Time Commitment: 10-40 hours per week for up to 14 weeks depending on the intern’s availability, interest and academic credit requirements.

Supervision and Oversight:

  • Each daily summary will be reviewed, edited and critiqued on a daily basis
  • Substantive articles will be assigned, reviewed, edited and critiqued so that a final version can be published on the website
  • Guidance and suggestions will be provided on the potential subject of the interviews and the content of the interviews, and all summaries will be reviewed, edited and critiqued prior to publication
  • Guidance and direction will be provided on the marketing and advertising initiative
  • Evaluation will be provided to the intern and the college/university upon completion of the internship
