Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee we are pleased to welcome you to the International conference on Entomology scheduled to be held in the Department of Zoology, Punjabi University, Patiala from February 20 – 22, 2009. This three day event has been specially designed for scientists agricultural experts, public health workers, professional, policy makers and community leaders involved in insect diversity, pest control management, various vectors and vector borne diseases and other areas of agricultural and medical entomology. The conference will feature plenary lectures, invited lectures and contributed paper presentations (Both oral and Posters). The aim of the conference will be to promote discussion and exchange of information on the above said issues.

Language

The official language of the Symposium is English

Abstract

All abstracts for presentation as well as posters must be submitted to the symposium secretariat before December 25th, 2008. Abstracts received after this date cannot be guaranteed inclusion in the Abstract book.

Authors are invited to submit their abstract/s in duplicate for oral/poster presentation not exceeding 300 words including title, author(s) and affiliation.

Please submit the Abstract on CD in Microsoft Word and also enclose a hard copy.

Oral Presentation

If you intend to give an oral presentation, please provide a title of the paper on the registration form and submit the abstract of your paper as indicated above. The duration of an oral presentation will be 15 minutes.

Poster

We also invite those attending but not delivering an oral presentation to present a poster. The posters will be displayed on board 120 x 120 cm. During the poster session a committee appointed by the organizers will judge all posters. The winner of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize will be invited to give an oral presentation about their work during a special session.

The Registration fee be sent in favour of "International Conference on Entomology" Department of Zoology, Punjabi University, Patiala, by 25th December 2008 through international money order or bank draft. The registration form along with the abstract of research paper should reach by 25th December 2008. Registration becomes valid only after receipt of the fee

Confirmation of registration will be sent by second week of January 2009

Accommodation

Participants will be housed in two university guest houses. Those who are interested to stay in Two-Star/Three-Star Hotels in the city will have to pay the hotel charges directly to the concerned hotel at the end of their stay. Please indicate in the Registration form, your choice for stay, so that the arrangements made may be intimated in time to the concerned delegates.

Exhibition

An exhibition is likely to be arranged at the symposium venue for scientific and non-scientific goods.

Transport and Access

Two International airports i.e. Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi and Raja Sansi International Airport, Amritsar each are about 240 km from the Patiala city. The nearest Airport is Chandigarh Airport and is about 65 km from Patiala city.

The delegates coming from abroad are advised to take a flight to Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi and then a connecting flight to Chandigarh Airport. One can also reach Patiala by Rail or Bus from New Delhi. Frequent Bus service for Patiala is available from Inter-State Bus Terminus, Delhi. One can also hire a taxi from New Delhi Airport and proceed for the venue of the conference directly.

An arrangement for transportation shall be available at Bus Stand and Railway Station, Patiala for the delegates to reach the Punjabi University.

Climate and Clothing

The weather in Patiala in the month of February shall be cool and pleasant. The day temperature ranging between 12 – 18oC and night temperature from 6 – 10oC. The delegates are advised to bring warm clothing

Official Letter of Invitation

An official letter of invitation will be made available upon request. However, the invitation letter does not promise any financial support.

Visa

The Visitor from European Nations do not require visas to visit India. However, the delegates are responsible for their own visa procedures to visit India.
