SUGGESTED CLOTHING/KIT LIST – RESIDENTIAL VISITS

You need to be prepared for any type of weather when participating in outdoor activities in the Lake District. The weather can range from very dry to very wet and from very warm to very cold. Some of our activities are ‘wet’ activities during which you will get soaked whether you like it or not!

We have a drying room at the centre but cannot guarantee your clothes will dry overnight particularly if you don’t hang them up!

We do not allow wearing jeans on activities as these can cause problems when they get wet.

We can provide these essential items

·  Walking Boots

·  Waterproof Jacket

·  Waterproof Trousers

·  Comfortable Rucsack large enough to carry all your belongings.

·  Water Bottle

·  Wellingtons

·  Sleeping bag, mat, tent, stove and headtorch if camping

Items of a more technical nature are obviously provided depending on the activity.

If you already have any of these items you may like to bring and use your own if we decide they are suitable.

You need to provide for activities

·  Suitable trousers – eg tracksuit bottoms – at least two pairs – not jeans

·  Suitable warm long sleeved tops – eg fleece jacket or sweatshirt/hoody – at least three

·  A nylon top is useful for wet activities to avoid cotton next to the skin eg football shirt

·  Thick comfortable socks – at least three pairs

·  Warm hat and gloves – particularly in the colder months. Please note that bulky warm hats do not fit under helmets – a thinner and less bulky hat without bobbles etc. Is preferable.

·  Sunhat/cap and sunscreen for sunny days! Particularly in the summer months.

·  Old/second best trainers which will get wet

·  Towel

You need to provide for life around the centre:-

·  Casual clothes – enough for your length of stay

·  Casual footwear

·  Nightwear

·  Washing kit

·  Towel

·  A large plastic bin bag for packing your wet clothes on departure.
