Summary of Activity (include relationship to goal, bylaw or p&p, if applicable:
AASFAA continued to offer members the opportunity to receive “NASFAA U” Credentialing Training on Monday, March 14th during our spring workshop. This training was conducted by Stephanie Miller and the topics covered were “The Application Process” and “Federal Methodology”. Members who completed the training were allowed to test and become certified in these two credentialing areas.
The training was a great success with 24 members attending. Certificates were printed and awarded to each participant in the two credentialing areas.
The New Aid Officers Workshop was also held on Tuesday, March 15th during the spring conference. Presenters for this session were Amy Gerber and Michiale Schneider from Great Lakes. The topics presented were An Overview of the Financial Aid Process, Understanding Student Eligibility, and FERPA, Interpreting the Intricacies. The Workshop was a huge success with 20 members in attendance. Certificates were awarded to each participant of this workshop.
Certificates were also printed and awarded to all participants of the Spring Conference.
Action Items (New business or Unfinished business):
We will continue to offer NASFAA Credentialing Training in other areas the day before our Fall Drive In. The Fall Workshop will be held on October 7th at A.U.M. The NASFAA Credentialing will be held at Trenholm State Community College on the day before, October 6th.
Certificates will be printed and awarded to participants for the Credential Training Areas presented as well as workshop attendees.
Policy & Procedure: Changes/ Updates/Recommendations:
We aspire to continue offering the New Aid Officers Workshop and Support Staff Training during our spring conferences. P&P 6:16
We also recommend that we continue to have some type of workshop like the P & P Workshop that was held last Fall for the participants who do not want to participate in the NASFAA Credentialing Training.
Recommend we look at 16-17 NASFAA Authorized Events credential training materieals.
