Call to Worship Psalm 30:4
*Opening Hymn 21
O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
*Corporate Prayer of Confession & Silent Confession
Most holy and righteous God, we confess that our decisions are smoke and vapor. We do not glorify you or behave according to your will. Forgive us. Save us from ourselves: from the treachery of our perverse nature, from denying your charge against our offenses, from a life of continual rebellion against you, from wrong principles, views, and ends; for we know that all our thoughts, affections, desires and pursuits are alienated from you. We have acted as if we hated you, though you are love itself. Our thoughts, words and deeds are evil in your sight. Drive us not from your presence, but wound our hearts that they may be healed; break them that you might make them whole, for the sake of Christ Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
*Assurance of Forgiveness Romans 5:1-2
*Blessed Assurance 572
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of his Spirit, washed in his blood. This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long! This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long!

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Featured Element of Worship: Confession & Assurance
There are many reasons we choose to make explicit the Confession of Sin and Assurance of Forgiveness. One of the principle reasons is to “rehearse” the Gospel. The Gospel—the good news of Jesus Christ—is not merely something that we receive to enter into faith. It is a perpetual, life-changing reality that we must seek to embrace at deeper and deeper levels. Put another way, we might say that growing more mature in our faith and becoming more like Jesus involves one principle reality: believing the Gospel at deeper and richer levels. The regular practice of Confession and Assurance molds our soul into a “Gospel shape” such that the pattern of the liturgy, over time, “becomes” us, as we begin to relate to God through the Gospel in our day to day lives.
