Procedures for Volunteers

You will periodically be contacted by the coordinator and asked to prepare and deliver a home-cooked meal to an individual or a family. If you receive an email orvoice mail from the coordinator, please reply promptly, even if you are unable to help at the moment. Your prompt reply (either way) allows the coordinator to move ahead with creating a meal-delivery schedule in a timely manner.

Once you have committed to making a meal, please:

  • Sign up for a date and meal via the website or contact the recipient directly to arrange for the most convenient drop-off time.
  • Bring your meal in recyclable containers, reusable containers they can keep, OR offer to come back and pick up your dishes.
  • Feel free to bring a dish that can be put in the oven, a filled crock pot or a dish that can be frozen if you need to bring the meal ahead of time.

“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

~2 Corinthians 9:10-11

Ministry

Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

~Proverbs 11:25b

We cannot do great things on this Earth; only small things with great love.

~Mother Teresa

One way we practice generosity within our own congregation is through the Emmaus Meals Ministry. The purpose of this ministry is to lovingly prepare and deliver home-cooked meals for those who have new babies through birth or adoption, those who are recovering after a stay in the hospital, or those who are experiencing a health crisis.

Emmaus Meals Ministry volunteers are contacted periodically (typically no more than 4-6 times per year) to prepare a simple meal and deliver it to the recipient’s home. This has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to build relationships and support each other in a caring, tangible way… it is truly a blessing for both the giver and the receiver!

We are always in need of new volunteers who are willing to serve and bless others through this meaningful ministry. If you are interested in joining us, please fill out the form on the right and put it in the offering plate or turn it in to the church office. We would love to have you join us!
