JOB TITLE / Breakfast and Afterschool Club Team Leader
1. Main Job Purpose
To manager club staff and work with the Finance Manager on all aspects of operational procedures and processes.
To provide activities and creative play opportunities and ensure that this is delivered in a safe and caring environment during the hours of 3.20-6.00pm
To provide a healthy meal
2. Statements of Responsibilities
Responsibility statements
To supervise staff within the After School Club setting and to oversee the Breakfast club staff.
Liaising with Ofsted representatives on the inspection of the After School Club as part of a section 5 inspection
Developing, implementing and evaluation of policies and procedures to ensure the setting operates within current legislation and guidelines, and meets the standards required
Responsible for the health and safety of children and staff including child protection issues, the monitoring and checking of equipment and building, and recording of accidents
Provide full care for the children including collection of children from school and safe delivery to parents and/ or named carers
Provide a light snack and for those children staying after 5pm provide a healthy tea
Provide and prepare safe, creative, appropriate activities and play opportunities, organising and advertising the programme etc.
Working within agreed policies
To be responsible for ensuring food and consumables are purchased
Administering first aid as appropriate
Carrying out the day to day financial administration and record keeping including registers for after school club
Liaising with the school to organise purchasing materials and equipment, working within an agreed budget.
Managing and implementing of fund raising activities
Encouraging parental involvement and support of the club
Initiating close liaison with parents, schools and other childcare and play related agencies
including Norfolk EYDCP.

All staff will be supplied with guidance for lifting and carrying.
Staff are responsible for keeping the allocated area clean and for monitoring the cleanliness of the floors. They will report any problems to the Finance Manager
Staff are responsible for supporting children if required with health and care needs such as illness/ sickness/ toileting.

Without reference to anyone else, the After School Club Team Leader will be responsible for:
–  Preparing and planning all Art and Craft activities
–  Menu preparation
–  Behaviour management
–  Running the club

6. Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Competencies, Qualifications

Experience is not essential although the following would be beneficial:
NVQ level 3 in childcare of equivalent
Experience of working with 4 to 14 year olds
Experience of administration including budget management
Understanding of good childcare
Knowledge of food hygiene and a food hygiene qualification (to be implemented by the school)

7. Dimensions and Statistics
The post holder has responsibility for:
-  The online booking system and any cash payments
-  managing and requesting resources for the setting
-  managing additional staff
-  informing the Finance Manager of any staffing or other running issues of the club
As the Out of School Club is now under the under the umbrella of the school there is a Finance Manager who holds the budget for the Club. Although the school holds it, the Team Leader makes decisions in collaboration with the Finance Manager as to what to buy and how much to spend. Finances must be agreed with the Head or Deputy Head.
Food budget is approximately £30 per week but will be monitored

The Breakfast and Afterschool Team Leader must be self-motivated, work with initiative and able to work as part of a team. People skills are also essential as communicating with parents and liaising with school staff will be required.

The specific duties attached to any individual member of staff are subject to annual review and may, after discussion with the teacher, be changed.
