Basic details of the organisation –
Centre for Social Service is an organisation that works towards the education and economic empowerment of young girls and women. CSS has four major projects.
Residential Program- Each year a select number of orphan or semi-orphan girls, coming from economically needy family are taken into the organization and provided with all necessary facilities for their stay and higher education. This academic year 75 girls are staying and studying in CSS.
School for Girls- CSS is running a full-fledged English Medium School for socially and economically underprivileged girls. At present we have classes from Nursery to 8th class only. There arenearly 500 girls studying in our school. We are providing them with uniforms, text books, note books, stationary, shoes and socks.
Swayam Sakthi- The main aim of the project is to help women who come to CSS for emotional and economical support. They are given counseling and are helped in acquiring new livelihood skills and assisted in leading independent lives again. In aid of women who had come to CSS requesting help, CSS started it’s livelihood Generating Units in Swayam Sidha Building, at Bundlaguda near Nagole. We have started beauty parlor and training unit, lending library, boutique, tailoring and training unit. The ultimate aim of the units is to bring self-sustainability both for the women running the units as well as for CSS in a small way. CSS residential girls who are interested in getting trained in any of the units also join the team and develop into confident young women.
Day-care for Elderly Women – This programmeis run at Vetapalem, near Tenali. In families which struggle to make ends meet the elderly women who are no longer productive to the family are neglected. These women come to CSS shelter, cook their lunch with the provisions provided by CSS, spend the day in peaceful and clean environment and go back to their homes in the evening.
Details of the project needing support -
Nimmagadda Anandamma Memorial Girls School is an initiative of Centre for Social Service. The school was started mainly to cater to the need of all the junior girls in the orphanage and also the girls from socially and economically backward families that live in and around HyathNagar.
Thanks to ASHA STANFORD 40 students have now reached high School, after six years of continuous support. Since the school is a free English medium school for underprivileged girl all the needs of the students like uniforms, notebooks, text-books, stationary, shoes and socks are provided by the Centre utilizing the sponsorship donation given by donors like Asha Stanford. The quarterly, half-yearly and annual exam reports of all the students have been sent to the sponsorer. Annual Report of CSS for the academic year 2014 has also been sent along with the official class photo.
English language proficiency increases the chances of our students’ ability to understand all subjects and get better grades and above all prepares them well for their future endeavors in life. After a lot of struggle we have this academic year successfully established an English Lab for the students thanks to many companies which came forward with providing the infra-structure and software.
REQUEST –
This academic year we have started 8th grade which is the starting point for high school education for all the students. We at Centre for Social Service request Asha Stanford to continue their support to the 8th standard students this academic year 2015 also. We are happy to inform you that this academic year the class strength has finally reached 40 and the entire 8th grade will benefit from your sponsorship.
Funding details –
Sponsorship amount for one student = Rs 6, 200/-
Sponsorship amount for 40 students = Rs 6, 200 X 40 = Rs 2, 48, 000/-
Due to economic constrains we have not been able to give the walls of our class-rooms a fresh coat of paint. We have tried to maintain the rooms as neatly as possible from the time the school was officially started in 2010. We request you to help us in meeting the expenditure of painting the walls, windows, doing minor repair works, fresh curtains and painting and repairing the class benches in one class-room, which amounts to Rs. 50,000/- This will help us in keeping each class room clean, neat and hygienic for the use of the students.
Total support needed this academic year = Rs. 2, 48,000+50, 000 = Rs. 2, 98,000/-
Thank you for your continued support to us.
Best Regards,
Mrs.Vemuri Vijaya Lakshmi
