Position: Community Living Assistant I
Department: Women and Children’s Services
Location: My Sister’s House
Reports To: Community Living Leader
Schedule: Two(2) positions available: (Please indicate preference when applying)
1. Full-time: 3:00pm to 11:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and every other weekend(off Thursdays)
2. Part-time: 3:00pm to 11:30pm Every Thursday and every other weekend
Serves within ministry by assisting with the basic needs and inspiring women to
“choose help” to overcome their current circumstance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist clients in identifying and obtaining benefits and social and community services
· Assist Community Living Leaders with developing, organizing, and conducting programs to prevent and resolve problems relevant to substance abuse, human relationships, rehabilitation, or adult daycare
· Assist staff in providing supervision, guidance, and accountability to program clients, volunteers
· Promotes harmonious relations among clients promptly and professionally
· Responsible for intake, medical, residential, receptionist office, and outside activities coordinator
· Respond to intake queries; collect, record and analyze documentation and referral sources; select candidates who are eligible and appropriate for admission; refer candidates to other programs as necessary; select candidates for waiting list if appropriate; supervise or perform all necessary admission procedures
· Schedule and record all clients’ doctor and dental appointments
· Make medical or psychiatric referrals as appropriate
· Cultivate and record sources of referral and resource assistance
· Coordinate and oversee clients living quarters and personal property to ensure conformance to Atlanta Mission policies and procedures
· Conducts inspections, overseeing cleanups, maintaining adequate furnishings, writing personal property request slips, and checking inventories, etc.
· Provides oversight to the client receptionist function
· Coordinates social services and arranges appropriate assistance for internal and external services
· Prepare and maintain monthly service reports
· Sort and distribute incoming mail
· Coordinates and oversee client’s involvement in outside activities such as support group meetings, church services, and appropriate special events
Education, Experience, and Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Ø Strong desire to work in a Christian ministry
Ø Understanding and passion to serve those who have experienced homelessness
Ø Experience working or volunteering with homeless is a plus
Ø High school diploma and/or GED – Associate’s Degree preferred or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
Ø Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience and/or training or six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ø Good organizational and typing skills required
Ø Ability to effectively communicate verbally and orally with any audience
Ø Experience working in diverse settings with people across all socio-economic spectrums
Ø Good judgement
Ø Efficient with Microsoft Office applications
