YORKSHIRE S.A. JUNIOR/SENIOR SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING COMPETITIONS

CONDITIONS

The Competition will be held under A.S.A. Law.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

All competitors must be registered swimmers and members of an A.S.A. affiliated club.

Competitors must have been members of the club they wish to represent at least 60 days prior to the

competition date.If a competitor is a member of more than one club then the A.S.A. First Claim rule will

apply., RULE 407 A.S.A Handbook.

Swimmers may only compete in their appropriate age group.

Junior Swimmers 14years and under,but not younger than 8 years of age in the year of the competition.

SeniorSwimmers 15 years and over in the year of the competition.

A competitor may enter only,one solo,duet and one combination in each section of technical and free routines

of the relevant age group.

Competitors in Duets and Combinations must be members of the same club.

A Combination shall consist of not less than four(4) nor more than ten (10 ) members.The total number of swimmers entered for a Combination shall not exceed ten(10).2 Reserve Swimmers may be nominated for the Combination.

The total number of swimmers entered for a Duet shall not exceed three(3) one of which shall be a Reserve.

Junior Swimmers 14 years and under ,but not younger than 8 years of age in the year the competition with

MINIMUM Grade 3/ Skill Level 3 or above.

Juniors with Grade 3/above or Skill Level 3 may enter as a Grade swimmer or a Competitive Swimmer.

Senior Swimmers 15 years and over in the year of the competition with MINIMUM Grade 3/Skill Level 3or above.

Seniors with Grade 3/above or Skill Level3/above may enter as a Graded swimmer or Competitive swimmer.

This is for this year only. For 2011 it is intended that the Senior Swimmers will require Grade 4 or Skill Level 4 minimum

Grades to be registered with the Yorkshire Synchronised Swimming Secretary at least 2 weeks prior to ther Competition.19thSEPTEMBER 2010

Please check your Recreational/Competitive status when deciding to enter.

The competition criteria for non Yorkshire Clubs is either The Yorkshire Grade as for Junior/senior or an Equivalent Qualification. Please enquire from the Yorkshire Synchronised Swimming Secretary for further information on this requirement.

ENTRY

Completed entry forms,in triplicate,shall be submitted to the Yorkshire Synchronised Swimming Secretary or Organiser together with the appropriate entry fees, not later than 28 days prior to the date of the competition

COMBINATIONS PINK FORMS ( FORMS MUST INDICATE IF A MILLENNIUM CUP ENTRY OTHERWISE IT WILL NOT BE ENTERED FOR THIS TROPHY.)

If more than 1 Combination isentered from a Club then each Combination must have a designation

i.e. “A” Team “B” Team ( We cannot expect the Scorers to Guess which team is which)

Changes may be made only after consultation with and the agreement of the Referee and Competition

Organiser up to 24 hours before the start of the competition.

All music must be registered with the A.S.A.. ALL MUSIC MUST BE MCPS LICENCED WITH THE PRODUCT NUMBER AND LICENCE REFERENCE NUMBER ENTERED ONTO THE ENTRY SHEETS.

All routine CD’s/Tapes for Yorkshire S.A. Competitions must be correctly labelled with all the recommended A.S.A. labelling.

ALL ROUTINES ON C.D. WITH A TAPE CASSETTE BACKUP.

Competitors must report to the Clerk of the Course not less than 30 minutes prior to the start of the competition and produce their A.S.A. Registration Card and Log Book. If cards are not produced on the day then they must be produced to the Referee or Organiser within 7 days following the competition. Failure to do so will result in disqualification unless there is a valid reason for a card not being available.Failure to produce an up to date Log Book will result in the Competitor not being able to swim.

Team managers must report all withdrawals of competitors from their clubs to the Referee or Chief Clerk of the Course at the earliest possible moment and preferably not later than 15 minutes prior to the start of the competition. The object of this condition is to enable any changes to swimming order or to Team entries to be arranged. Non compliance of this condition could affect Team or Duet reserves being swum or Solo Routine selection.

The start of the Competition will be deemed to be at the commencement of the Warm Up session.

The Organiser shall , when all the entries have closed, arrange a random draw for the order of appearance.

The routine times below are for the guidance of the Yorkshire S.A. Synchronised Swimming Committee when selecting Routine Times for the Competition.

ALL ROUTINE TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO ALTERATION AT THE DISCRETION OF THE

YORKSHIRE S.A. SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING COMMITTEE.

ALL ROUTINE TIMES WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE INFORMATION DISTRIBUTED TO

CLUBS WHEN INVITATIONS AND INFORMATION IS SENT TO CLUBS CONCERNING THE COMPETITION.

Swimmers who have Competed Competitively or Recreationally in a previous Competition during the Year should check their status,i e Competitive/Recreational before entering.

Juniors –14 years of age and under, but not younger than 8 years of age, in the year of the competition

Senior - 15 years of age and over in the year of the Competition.

No deductions are made in Combination scores for less than 10 swimmers!!!!!

3. The Junior competitions shall consist of two or three parts:

. a)Junior Technical Competition:- Each Junior swimmer must perform 1 of the following:-4 Figures

or a Technical Solo or 4 Technical Elements. The Organisers will decide which are to be performed

and Clubs advised when invitations to Clubs are sent out.

Swimmers must have competed in the Technical Competition to be eligible to swim a Solo, Duet

Routine. and /or Combination Routine.

b) The TWELVE (12)highest scoring Competitors of the Technical Competition will be invited to perform a Solo Routine. Scores from the Technical Competition will be carried forward to the Solo Routine competition .

c ) Junior Duet Competition : Junior Couples competitors (couples who must be members of the same club) with the TEN (10)highest combined average Figure/Technical Element score will qualify to perform Free Duet routines. Scores from the Technical Competition will be carried forward to the Junior Free Duet Competition.

Swimmers must have competed in either the Figure/Technical Solo/Technical Element/Technical Duet Competition to be eligible to swim a Free Duet.

4. The Senior Competitions shall consist of three or four parts:

a) Senior Technical Competition:- Each Senior swimmer must perform 1 of the following :- 4 Figures or a Technical Solo or 4 Technical Elements.

b) The TWELVE (12)highest scoring Competitors of the Technical Competition will be invited to perform a Solo Routine. Scores from the Technical Competition will be carried forward to the Solo Competition.

c) Senior Duet competition: This event will be a Free Duet Routine Competition If Technical Elements,Technical Solos or Figures are performed then these scores will be used to qualify for entry to the Senior Duet competition. The Technical Competition Scores will carry forward to the Senior Free Duet Scores.The TEN (10) highest combined average couples scores will qualify for entry to the Senior Duet competition. To swim a Free Senior Duet either the Technical Solo or Technical Element/Figure competition must have been competed in. Competitors must be

members of the same club.

Grade swimmers and Skill Level swimmers may not swim together in a Duet. The Combination may not exceed more than 50% of Competitve swimmers.

Where Figures or Technical Elements are to be performed these will be selected by the Yorkshire Synchronised Swimming Committee at its first meeting of the year.All competitors must enter the relevant Technical Competition to be eligible to compete in Junior or Senior Solo, Duet and Team events.

All competitors must enter the Technical competition of either Technical Solo or Elements or Figures to be eligible to compete in the Free Solo, Free Duet and or Team/Combination events.

The Yorkshire S.A. Synchronised Swimming Committee will decide at its first meeting of the year the format for the Technical Competitions and the information sent out with the Competition invitations.

In the Junior and Senior Solos/Duet events where the selection of Routines is made by the results of the Technical Competition then should a withdrawal be necessary of a routine the notification of the withdrawal MUST be made immediately following the completion of the relevant Technical Competition and prior to the selection of the Swimmers for the Solo and Duet Competitions.

Should a Routine be withdrawn under these conditions and that routine be eligible to swim in the routine competition then the next highest average score from the Technical Competition will be invited to perform their routine.This will continue to the 16th highest Technical scores for Solos and 14 highest combined average scores for Duets.

If this condition is not followed then the Routine Competition will proceed with the TWELVE (12) selected routines minus the withdrawn routine/s for Solos and TEN (10) for Duets.

COMBINATION COMPETITION

An open Combination Competition will be held. If more than eight Combinations enter,then a qualifying method will need to be discussed and agreed for the following year.. All Swimmers in the Combination Routine competition must have competed in either the Junior Technical Competition or the Senior Technical Technical Competition.

Only ONE COMBINATION per club will be eligible to compete for the Millennium Cup. This Combination must be designated ON THE ENTRY FORM AT THE TIME OF ENTRY.

Should the designated Combination be withdrawn by its Club then representation to re-designate a second Combination already entered by that Club may be made to the Competition Organiser up to 48 hrs prior to the Competition.No deductions are made for less than Ten (10) swimmers in a combination.

The Combinations may consist of 50% Recreational,50% Competitive. The Competitive element must NOT exceed 50%. An additional 0.1 will added to the score for each Recreational Swimmer in a Combination. Clubs may enter more than 1Combination .

MARKING, CALCULATION OF RESULTS, PENALTIES, DISQUALIFICATION

A.S.A. Synchronised Swimming Technical Rules 714,715,716,717 AND 718 shall apply as per the

current A.S.A. Handbook.

SUZANNE SHORTER TROPHY

Points will awarded for the Suzanne Shorter Trophy as follows:

1st 3 points 2nd 2 points 3rd 1 point

for each of the following sections: Junior Figures, Solo, Duet

Senior Figures, Solo, Duet

Junior/Senior Combination

The winner will be the swimmer with the highest number of points. This will include Recreational and Competitive Swimmers.

MILLENIUM CUP

Points will awarded as follows ; 1st 6 points, 2nd 5 points, 3rd 4 points, 4th 3 points,

5th 2 points, 6th 1 point

Points will awarded for The Junior Technical Competition, Solos, Free Duets

The Senior Technical Competition, Solos, Free Duets

Combinations

Only Recreational Events are eligible for this Trophy however the Open Combination WILL be included. These points will be added to those points awarded at the YorkshireS.A.Age Group Novice Competition. The winner will be the club with highest number of points.

Non Yorkshire Clubs will not be eligible for Yorkshire Cups/Trophies or Medals.

TOP CLUB TROPHY

Points will awarded as follows: 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in Figures/Solos/Duets and Combination Competitions.

1st place 3 points, 2nd place 2 points, and 3rd place 1 point The winner will be the Club with the most points. This is open to ALL CLUBS.

GENERAL

Costumes for Figure or Technical Elements shall be BLACK with no logo and competitors shall wear a white cap with no markings

Costumes for Routines shall conform to A.S.A. Law

Headdresses shall conform to A.S.A. Law.

No jewellery shall be worn. No facial cosmetics shall be worn.

All entries MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE RELEVANT ENTRY FEE.

NO LATE ENTRIES OR INCOMPLETE ENTRIES OR ENTRIES WITHOUT FEES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
