Minutes of Meeting October 1, 2013
Cedar Grove Community Center
President: Jim Young
Meeting called to order at 7:10 with 8 members present.
Minutes from September were read and approved as read.
Old Business: Jim Duncan got prices on heat transfer application of our approved chapter logo from Vista Print. Prices are as follows:
Regular Tee- $12
Soft Tee- $18 + $5 to print
Polo- $25 design print only on pocket
Shipping per box is $6.50
No set up fee will be charged and a minimum to order is only 1 piece
Members were encouraged to order a tee and can pay for them when they arrive. Jim Duncan will handle the orders.
New Business:
A chapter Facebook page has been set up for us and will be maintained by Greg Webb. It will be listed as South Mississippi Chapter GPAA. All members are encouraged to "like" our page and promote it to their Facebook friends.
Jim Young will check with GPAA to see what they will donate for us to use to promote our Chapter as well as the national GPAA when we take part in the November Gem and Mineral Show.
Jim Young has also secured on consignment assorted pans that we can sell at the show for $10 each. We will retain for our club $5 on each one sold. He also has a banner for our use that simple reads," PAN FOR GOLD"
Additionally, we have on consignment 1000 small glass vials for sale a portion of which we will keep for our club.
Needs to set up our booth for the show are as follows:
small roll plastic sheeting to protect floor
small wading pool to hold water for panning equipment for display (members will be responsible for any equipment they choose to display at the booth that weekend)
The Fall Social Outing will be held on December 14, 201 at Flint Creek Water Park. Bridgette Helm will report back on rates and availability of a day/picnic site. Anyone wanting to camp additionally will handle their own arrangements.
Outgoing president Jim Young reminded the group that elections will now be held to elect this year's new officers. After voting was done the results were as follows:
Jim Young re-elected President
Bill Sinclair elected Vice-President
Bridgette Helm elected Secretary/Treasurer.
The necessary paperwork from elections was signed and will be mailed by the secretary to National Headquarters.
No collection was taken up and the treasury remains at $393.
Having no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:54pm.
