Resolute Onyx™ Coronary Stent
Resolute Onyx™is a the newest drug-eluting stent (DES) from Medtronic that is used during a minimally-invasive, catheter-based procedure called percutaneous coronary intervention, which is an alternative to open heart surgery to treat narrowed coronary arteries that restrict blood flow to the heart.
The device is thefirst and only DES to feature an advancementcalled CoreWire Technology, which provides thinner and stronger stent struts that enhance deliverability and radiopacity without compromising structural strength.

CoreWire Technology
CoreWire Technology presentsa new foundation for future stent innovations. Theinnovative technology allows the Resolute Onyx DES to have a denser core metal wrapped in a cobalt alloy outer layer, which enhances deliverability in challenging coronary anatomies, improves comformability against the vessel wall and increases radiopacity (i.e. visibility) during the procedure with no compromise to radial and longitudinal strength.
Continuous Sinusoid Technology
Continuous Sinusoid Technology forms the flexible stent platform of the Resolute Onyx DES that was previously introduced with the Resolute Integrity DES and the Integrity bare-metal stent. Continuous Sinusoid Technology is a method of stent manufacturing that molds one single strand of wire into a sinusoidal wave. It’s thenwrapped into a helical pattern andlaser-fused at certain points, making each stent comparable to a flexible spring.
PowerTrac Technology
PowerTrac Technology is a new delivery system for the Resolute Onyx DES that provides superior deliverability[i] through challenging coronary lesions.
Multiple Sizes Treat Various Patient Anatomies
The Resolute Onyx DES offers a broad size matrix with new specialized sizes, including a new 2.0 mm-diameter to expandthe treatment options for various patientanatomies.
Regulatory Status
Supported by robust clinical evidence from the Global RESOLUTE Program, the Resolute Onyx DES received CE (Conformité Européene)mark in November 2014. The device is currently available in select countries that recognize the CE mark andis not approved for commercial use in the United States.
