Queen's 90th Birthday Celebration: on Friday 10 June at 6pm in St Asaph Cathedral. There is to be a special Choral Evensong to commemorate the Queen's 90th birthday. This is on the same day as the national service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral.

A Question of Europe - Public meeting organised by the Church in Wales on behalf of Cytun ahead of the EU Referendum on June 23. Free of charge, there’s no need to book, and everyone is welcome.Llandudno, 10 June, 7.30pm - Holy Trinity Church Hall.Professor Brian Merfyn Jones of Bangor University will be the main speaker, joined by Canon Carol Wardman (Bishops’ Adviser for Church and Society) and Graham Morgan from the Methodist Church, who will present views on a Christian case for Remain or Leave (respectively). Questions, comment and debate will follow.
“With Saintly Shout and Solemn Jubilee” - The Annual RSCM Choral Festival, this year celebrating God’s saints in words and music, will take place on Sunday 12 June, 2016 at St. Asaph Cathedral. The Festival Choir will be directed by Adrian Lucas - RSCM Head of Choral Studies and Director of the Millennium Youth Choir. Rehearsal 2-4 p.m. and Choral Evensong Service at 5pm. 'Wings Over Sealand' - 9 - 12 Jun - a four day WW1 Heritage Exhibitionat St Bartholomew's Church, Sealand CH5 2LQ- to mark one hundred years since the arrival of the Royal Flying Corps in Sealand. Images artefacts, films and daily talks (2pm and 4pm). This exhibition tells the story of the pioneers of aviation, the establishment of RAF Sealand and the people who lived and worked in the area right up to the present day. Open Daily 10am - 6pm. A special service to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday. Sunday 12 June at 5pm in St Paul's Church in Craig-y-Don. Featuring some of her favourite hymns, music from her reign and other British classics. Music includes "I Was Glad" by C Hubert H Parry and "The Old Hundredth" by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Cake and other celebration refreshments served afterwards.

Training
ACAT Foundation Course for Treasurers. The Association of Church Accountants and Treasurers is running a Foundation Course in Chester on Saturday 11 June. The course gives an overview of the responsibilities of a Church Treasurer and is not denomination specific. All Church Treasurers are members of ACAT and are therefore eligible to attend. Training Together – “You’re a Churchwarden” with Archdeacon Peter Pike. This interactive session will give guidance on the role and duties of a Churchwarden in relation to the Constitution and 2020 Vision. We will also cover the responsibilities of church buildings and the role during a clerical vacancy. Training Together – “Being Good Enough Clergy” with Emma Percy. Emma is the Welfare Dean and Chaplain at Trinity College, Oxford and is the author of “Mothering as a Metaphor for Ministry” and “What Clergy Do”. In this session we will be looking at the current theology and practice of ordained ministry. This session is relevant particularly for those in ordained ministry but all are welcome. 5 July, 10am-4pm in St Margaret’s Church, Wrexham.Booking is essential. The Cinnamon Network is providing a free leadership training course at St Margaret's Church, Garden Village, Wrexham on Saturday 9 July.
The training is not for 'experts', neither is it limited to church leaders but is open to anyone from social activists to community leaders and to those interested in developing the capacity and skills needed to lead more effectively. Mandy Harvey from the Cinnamon Network, who many will remember for her inspiring address at the Diocesan Conference, will be joining us for the training day.

National Churches Trust Launches its Project Viability and Project Development grant programme - This new grant programme – launched on 1 June - offers awards of between £3,000 and £10,000 to support churches to become more sustainable through the diagnosis of issues affecting the church, by testing the viability of proposed solutions to improve sustainability, and through development of guiding policies and plans that will be implemented through an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund or other large church heritage funders.
This a limited pilot programme. The deadline will be 12th September 2016. Decisions will be made in December 2016.

Somme100 Vigil – Commemorations for the centenary of the Battle of the Somme will take place on 30 June in All Saints Church, Deganwy at 7pm. The Vigil will take the form of readings – poetry and prose – from the time of the Battle followed by periods of silence to reflect on those readings. The men named on the War memorial who died on the Somme will be remembered. Poster attached.

Revd Peter Brignall, Bishop of Wrexham. The commemorative walk begins on Saturday 18 June with a service atShrewsbury Abbey at 10am.

Flower Festival with a Difference - St. Bridget’s Church, Dyserth is embarking on a flower festival project in June entitled: ‘Dressed for an Occasion Vestments and Flowers in Harmony’.The Festival opens on 16 June with the celebration of Holy Eucharist at 10.30 a.m. and runs through to Sunday 19 June when the Venerable John Lomas, Archdeacon of St. Asaph will be guest preacher at the 10.30a.m. Eucharist.

A Service of Thanksgiving for the Ninetieth Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth will be held at St Peter's Ruthin on Sunday 19 June at 6pm.
A Fete will be held in the ground of the Llansilin Vicarage on Saturday 25 June, opening at 2pm, the proceeds to be shared equally between the three parishes, Llansilin, Llangedwyn and Llangadwaladr.
Commemoration of the Battle of the Somme: Llangollen will remember the hundredth anniversary of the Battle of the Somme at a special concert in St Collen’s Parish Church on Thursday 30 June at 7.30 pm on the eve of the start of the battle, which has come to signify the horrors of the First World War. The concert will reflect on the battle and the cataclysmic events of 1916. The concert will feature the Glyndwr University Community Choir, conducted by Owen Roberts, performing Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem interspersed with War Poetry and other readings by students from Dinas Brân High School.See the poster (attached previously) for details.
