Summary
Under the direct supervision of the St. Mary Family Center Coordinator. Assists center coordinator in oversight of volunteers and in managing the delivery, storage and distribution of food and clothing items. Helps organize and monitors donations, food delivery and distribution systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assists in the operation of the food pantry and clothing program as determined by the St. Mary Family Center Coordinator.
· Welcomes clients and donors upon arrival. Receives donations and assists clients with various needs. Answers questions and responds to inquiries while maintaining a high level of respect and dignity for clients.
· Needs to be able to lift 25 pounds numerous time throughout the day, this would include but not limited to helping to unload delivery trucks and various donations throughout the day.
· Assists center coordinator in scheduling, organizing and directing volunteers and provides center orientation and training to new volunteers in coordination with the center coordinator.
· Provides coverage for St. Mary Family Center in the absence of the center coordinator and other employees. This may include responsibility for opening the building and closing and securing the building.
· Utilizes data collection software programs to assist clients in receiving personal care items, diapers and food boxes. Collects and tracks additional information or data as needed accurately.
· Assists center coordinator with procedural and policy compliance.
· Attends staff meetings and other required meetings and training programs.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for the oversight of volunteers in the absence of the center coordinator.

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills
Demonstrates proficient computer skills and familiarity of Microsoft Office software applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. May also require the ability to use Access, and desktop publishing software as required. Ability to learn and effectively use various data collection and database management systems to record data as required. Demonstrates familiarity and proficiency with Internet tools and techniques for searching, extracting, and processing information.
Ability to become licensed in the use of ServicePoint data collection software, or other software programs as needed. Ability to accurately input client information and record of client service(s) in to an agency wide Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) software program.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals utilizing proper English, grammar, punctuation and spelling; proofreads with accuracy and completeness to produce documents requiring minimal revisions by others. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, clients, and the general public. Ability to respond professionally to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. May require ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to read, write and speak in English and preferably a second language with preferences for Spanish, Arabic, Burmese, Vietnamese and Swahili.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Licensed to operate a motor vehicle and ability to meet agency auto insurance coverage requirements.
Need to complete and pass ServicePoint training. Need to obtain a ServicePoint license within a week of taking the training.
Blood Born Pathogen training (annually)
CPR certification (annually)
First Aid certification (every three years)
Mandatory Child Abuse and Dependent Adult training (every 5 years)
Other Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of standard office procedures including alphabetic and numeric filing, mail processing, and record keeping. Proficient human relations, planning, organizing and communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines by effectively organizing and prioritizing work assignments while managing frequent interruptions. Knowledge and ability to operate various office machines including: computer, printer, copier, scanner, fax machine, telephone, and calculator.
Other Qualifications
Ability to successfully pass a child abuse registry check and criminal background check, and requires completion of the Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS training session.
At times may be required to pick up food from partner agencies and donations when a volunteer is not available.

This position requires one to be in and out of the building on a regular basis throughout the day. Position requires person to take items to and from donor and or client vehicles. Position requires one to be exposed to the outside elements of Iowa weather.
Job requires person to be constantly moving from one need to another to meet the needs of our clients.
