Work Direction: Works under the supervision and direction of the Chapter Deputy Executive Director, requiring management approval for activities outside the annual Plan of Operation.

Position Overview: The North Carolina chapter is seeking an energetic, mature and professional individual with strong fundraising experience to manage the North Carolina’s Team In Training campaign to achieve and exceed revenue goals.

Campaign Overview: Team In Training (TNT) is the flagship fundraising campaign of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and world’s largest and most successful endurance sports training program for charity. TNT helps people of all fitness levels achieve their goal of completing a full or half marathon, cycle ride or triathlon while fundraising to help cure blood cancer. In exchange for raising funds, participants receive four to five months of training by TNT coaches, weekly team workouts that promote team spirit, guaranteed race entries, lodging, and more.

Basic Function: Responsible for managing the North Carolina’s Team In Training campaign including developing and executing a strategic plan; ensuring best practices are fully implemented; and recruiting and managing high level volunteers, revenue generation activities, expense and fiscal controls, human resources, operations, marketing, promotions and logistics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

o  Develops a comprehensive annual Team In Training Strategic Plan inclusive of best practices, volunteer leadership development, fiscal management, staffing management, task timelines, and additional significant marketing, sponsorships and/or promotions. Ensure plans and resources are in place to achieve, at a minimum, the program’s approved net campaign revenue budget.

o  Responsible for supervising and training to campaign staff and volunteers required for the implementation of the Team In Training campaign.

o  Accountable for success of Team In Training revenue goals for the North Carolina chapter. Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the Team In Training fundraising campaign including fundraising efficiency, community engagement, event satisfaction and overall success of the campaign.

o  Manage the recruitment and ongoing cultivation of community and corporate teams in North Carolina. This includes identifying and networking with corporations, community groups and key donors to promote and generate revenue for the TNT campaign.

o  Manages and assures that media, material, in-kind and cash sponsorships are secured through a coordinated plan that includes proposal development, prospect identification, cultivation, retention and recognition.

o  Manages and assures the development of all materials required for the successful implementation of assigned special events including recruitment/promotional flyers and brochures, invitations, posters, training materials, pledge retrieval or motivational materials, etc.

o  Responsible for volunteer management (i.e. recruitment, training, motivation, supervision and evaluation) required to plan and implement assigned special events.

o  Identifies target audiences and build appropriate marketing and monitoring strategies to successfully recruit, acknowledge, and retain event donors/participants.

o  Develops and coordinates promotional activities to ensure the success of events and to enhance public awareness of LLS and its mission.

o  Tracks income and expenses associated with assigned events and facilitates comprehensive campaign records, evaluations and reports.

o  Assists, as assigned, in the development and implementation of other chapter activities.

o  Maintains a working knowledge of the LLS mission and its programs to address them.

o  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

o  Three or more years of fundraising, communications, sales, marketing or event planning experience.

o  At least one year of supervisory experience. Able to supervise groups of employees and volunteer.

o  Highly organized and professional demeanor.

o  Enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed to excellence.

o  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

o  Capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively and independently.

o  High degree of organization and attention to detail while balancing multiple priorities effectively.

o  Minimum preferred education - Bachelor's Degree.

o  Strong word processing and database management skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

o  Must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a car.

o  Must be willing to work some nights and weekends and travel to the other offices in North Carolina.

o  May be required to move campaign materials weighing up to 15 pounds for various events.

o  Experience participating in endurance events is not necessary for this position.
