Additional things to consider:

Get the viewers’ watching emotionally involved. Thisis difficult to do by just stating what you do and/or why you want people to attend an event or fundraiser.

Consider adding a second guest who is someone other than a board member or employee.Suggestions may include a client who receives services from your organization or a program volunteer with an emotional story to share.

Get people excited about what you doby evoking their compassionate side and give them a reason to choose your organization or event. They are much more likely to contribute to or attend your event if they see first-hand what you do for the community.

The interviews are only 3 minutes. Instead of spending that time discussing the who, what, when, where and why for your program or event, reel them in with your organization, convince them why they should care, and then endwith the event ‘plug’.

Please consider mentioning somewhere in your interview that your organization is a United Way agency.

NOTE: In the email you received notifying you of this opportunity, the following appears:

Your assigned “spot” gives your organization the chance to highlight a topic of special interest about your United Way program, a special upcoming event, or your organization in general. Please confirm with a “reply all” to this email with your agreement to appear at this date and time.

Also, please send a copy of the email with your required “ahead of time details” to or when you send the information to the TV station.

This is included here for you as a reminder. Thank you!
