Artwork Missing in Montreal!
The Darling Foundry is launching a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo
Montreal, June 9, 2015 — The Darling Foundry is launching a crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo platform to enable the production and installation this year of Mirador, a spectacular work from the Acapulco Collective, in the guise of a mountain in outline that will extend over a large area of the building facing the Foundry.
For 8 years now, the Darling Foundry has been setting up a public square on Ottawa Street, where it installs a work of great impact that becomes the focal point of performative activities organized all summer long.
However, as the public art movement in Montreal gains momentum, public funding for the setting up of works during summertime is now insufficient. “We are very happy about this expansion and especially of having contributed to it, but without the public’s help, itwillbedifficultthisyearto take over the square and enliven it to the extent we would like”, says Caroline Andrieux, founder and artistic director of the Darling Foundry.
This institution has thus given itself 35 days to gather the $25,000 needed to create the work. In return for gifts, the Foundry has put together a whole series of perks. People may choose the one that interests them and make a donation here:
“We have little time. A mere $10 can make the whole difference in reaching our goal. All contributions will count”, says Alfonso Esparza, the Foundry’s managing director.
Thank you for helping the Darling Foundry getting art out in the street!
The Darling Foundry 2015 summer program will launch on Thursday, June 18. Visitors will discover two new exhibitions within the Darling Foundry, and new installations and summer activities outside, on its Place Publique.
