Emis Appointments
  • We went live yesterday moving from Front desk appointments to Emis appointments. The transition went very well. All staff worked very hard transferring appointments
  • No impact to patients –
  • Emis is the clinical system that we use – All your records are kept in Emis.
  • Advantages are that online appointments will be easier.
  • More onlineappointments will be available from September..
  • We will need to look at how we will manage as all Dr Shamsee’s appointments went within a day.
  • Teething problems may be inappropriate on-line booking 10 min appointment may need longer. Reception staff can usually ascertain how long an appointment may take.
  • Clinics are still left on old system text messaging switched off temporarily as patients were getting texts from the old system.
  • Patient on-line – hoping to increase this year. Currently 2500 patients registered to use online repeat prescriptions, appointments online etc. Probably about a ¼ of those patients use currently.

Triage in a morning 08.00 – 09.00on the phone by one of our Nurse Practitioners.
  • They will assess visits, answer a lot of problems. They can’t answer all triage questions over the phone but can direct to the most appropriate service.
  • Not all patients are happy to divulge information to receptionists – it was commented that a Nurse Practitioner was a good idea.
It was asked if the Nurse Practitioner informs the patients that they are triaging them? Yes
  • The Nurse Practitioner will not take all calls as 2/3 other people are also answering the phone. The Nurse Practitioner will be there to assist on a call once she is free.
  • We now have a prescription printer so the Nurse Practitioner can print prescriptions upstairs

WebGP
Is now live on our website – A demonstration was given to the group on how to fill out the questionnaire and other services. Over 18’s and registered patients online. The group thought that this was a good idea.
Dementia Café
The 1st coffee afternoon will be held on the 11th August 12.00 – 14.00 and then will continue on the 2nd Thursday of the month thereafter.
  • Not just for our patients. Nurse Practitioners be available to see our patients. Counselling, support, financial issues e.g. benefit forms etc. The ladies who are running these sessions will know a lot of the people visiting through Memory monitoring.
Volunteers –
Aug – Tony Clifton
Sep – Susan Newstead
Tony brought some information regarding Herbert Protocol leaflet. He will bring to the Dementia café.
HRI – update…
  • Frank & Tony went to the clinical commissioning Group Meeting today.
  • The message is that under no illusion that this is about the money they more or less confirmed this. A hole in finances £6 million interest a year.
  • A Government inspector may be getting involved.
  • Transport hasn’t be considered – Rethink on this – Metro discussions, no control over these discussions.
  • Urgent A+E would be available at HRI
  • No control over where we go now if ambulance collects you for such conditions as heart conditions, head injury straight to Leeds. You goto a specialist hospital where the specialists are. Specialism wins every time, Model of care is good,
  • Geography is wrong on this occasion.
  • Lack of expertise in both sites
  • Bypass concern – dual carriageway all the way into Halifax with a flyover from Elland.
  • Weather is an issue
  • Locala 45 minutes to get through on the phone

Dr Ward discussed the DNA audit
  • He looked at 2 weeks in May 36 DNA’s in those 2 weeks,
  • 20 of them no obvious reason why DNA’d not serial non-attenders.
  • 6 rang and said forgotten and apologised
  • 2 were regular non-attenders
  • 1 person was in hospital.
  • 3 rang to say stuck in traffic

Diary clash for Chair –Spoken to the group and everyone agreed that Wednesday would be our new meeting night.
