The first Saturday in December each year isdesignated Small Business Saturday and it encourages consumers to swap their shop from a large business to a small, independent one. It’s a great nationwide event that provides an opportunity to show consumers why they should support small businesses every day.

Neil Eames, Development Manager for the Federation of Small Business has gone on record as saying “When consumers see the diversity and value on offer, we hope it will make them more inclined to use local small firms, leading to booming local economies. Small Business Saturday helps to remind us what fantastic firms are out there.”
Tracy Tomlinson Association Manager of the British Florist Association highlights “Florists in businesses through the country are expertsthat create beautiful floral designs that convey emotions quite unlike any other product does, they offer such a wide range of designs and gifts this time of year they can almost be a one stop shop for all your Christmas gifts”

Tracy continues “We’re delighted to get behind Small Business Saturday. In recent years UK Florists have been under pressure from the increase in flowers and plants bought from supermarkets and online retailers, which has had a direct impact on our members. Florists are essential part of high streets in the thousands of British towns, villages and citiesproviding over 29,000 jobs to the local economy”

Small businesses continue to make an enormous contribution to our economy and Small Business Saturday is a vital reminder that we need to celebrate small businesses not just on one day, but all year round.More information on Small Business Saturday can be found on the Small Business Saturday website
