Movie Poster Project

Directions:

I.  CHARACTERS:

Choose 4 characters from your book. Cast appropriate modern actors for the 4 main roles. The movie poster must include the character’s and actor’s name.

II.  MOVIE POSTER: With your group, create a promotional poster advertising your new movie. Include:

·  Two or more significant or symbolic images from the book (could be collage, individual drawings, mixed media, etc.). Images should reflect, emphasize, illustrate, or otherwise add to the meaning, theme, mood, tone, action, and/or characterization in the book.

·  List of actors’ names and the characters they play (pictures of the actors are optional)

·  Catchy blurb (advertising slogan or short statement of what it’s about, meant to get people interested)

·  A theme song for your movie

·  A significant quotation from a critic. “Significant” means that it reveals something critical about the performance and can only be said about this movie/book. “Two Thumbs Up” doesn’t cut it!

·  Two or more of the propaganda techniques we studied clearly used in the poster

Poster due B-day: May 10 A-day: May 11.

III. RELATED MATERIAL PARAGRAPH

Your theme song must relate THEMATICALLY to your book. Think “big idea” words: trust, family, sacrifice, destruction of self, etc. You will write an APEPE paragraph in the following format:

1.  Answer-Thematic statement that connects your book to related material. Remember to include titles and authors/artists in your answer. This should discuss the theme of both your book and your song choice.

2.  Proof #1-Direct quote from your book that proves your thematic statement. This should be embedded with proper citation.

3.  Explanation-In your own words, discuss how this quote proves the thematic statement in your answer.

4.  Proof #2-From your song, include a direct quote that proves your thematic statement. This should be embedded with proper citation.

5.  Commentary/Explanation-In your own words, discuss how this related material proves the thematic statement in your answer.

**All quotes and explanations should always directly reflect your answer!

Final draft due in class on B-day: May 10 A-day: May 11.
