Quotation Analysis

·  p. 39 “Oh I dunno. Hardly none of the guys ever travel together. I hardly ever seen two guys travel together. You know how the hands are, they come in and get their bunk, and then they quit and go out alone. Never seem to give a damn about nobody.”

How is Slim’s observation about other men (“hands”) different from his observations about George and Lennie? What is George’s reaction to his observation?

·  Reread pages 57-58. George paints their fantasy for Lennie again. Discuss the following lines specifically.

“We’d jus’ live there. We’d belong there. There wouldn’t be no more runnin’ round the country gettin’ fed by a Jap cook. No, sir, we’d have our own place where we belonged and not sleep in no bunk house.”
