GFC Housekeeper

Job Description / Responsibilities

Position: GFC Facility Services Team - Housekeeper

Reports To: Allison Fuqua (Head Housekeeper), Toni Steigerwald (Facility Team Leader)

One Line Unique Purpose/Responsibilities of the Position: Serve GFC ministries by keeping the facility clean, orderly, and well maintained.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Clean and maintain the church facility. (see specific duties list below)

-Support, assist, and represent Christ to all users of the facility

-Steward (take care of on behalf of Christ) the facility

Qualifications:

-Christ-follower

-Hard working, teachable, self-motivated & reliable

-Have own transportation, mobile phone and email access.

-“People” person – proven ability to balance people and task priorities

-Possess good communication and organizational skills. Multi-tasking very helpful.

-Maintain a professional manner/attitude when working with facility users / GFC staff.

-Ability to lift minimum of 30 lbs repeatedly

-Work evenings and weekends

Preferred (but not required):

-Member of Grace Fellowship Church

-1-2 years experience in custodial, cleaning or facility maintenance role.

-Basic maintenance / carpentry / mechanical skills

Time Commitments:

-Desired one-year commitment to the job (pending a good two-way fit)

-12 to 25 hours per week

-Additional hours required for special events

-Participating in meetings/ training: one hour per month

Specific Duties: (This is a representative list)

  1. Inform Head Housekeeping when cleaning supplies are low and when equipment or facilities need repair.
  2. Empty all wastebaskets daily; more often if necessary.
  3. Dust furniture in public areas; Welcome desk, Main foyer, wherever needed
  4. Vacuum carpeted areas daily. Dust-mop, sweep, or vacuum other areas as needed.
  5. Clean and disinfect drinking fountains, door handles and light switches.
  6. Clean cobwebs from ceilings, corners, vents, fans, etc. as needed
  7. Thoroughly clean restrooms daily. Check them after each event and re-clean if necessary- includes cleaning toilet bowls, urinals, partitions, tiled walls, mirrors and floors and refilling soap towel dispensers, making sure toilet paper and paper towels are available and emptying trash and sanitary containers.
  8. Clean windows and glass doors as needed
  9. Replace light bulbs. Turn off non-required lights.
  10. Pick up litter on playground area and parking lot
  11. Check all areas for odors. Clean/disinfect as necessary.
  12. Clean up accidents as needed: Spills, stomach upset, etc.
  13. Clean baptismal when necessary.
  14. Set up tables / chairs for ministry events
  15. Assist facility users with building problems (unlocking classrooms, walk lost person back to front desk, help someone find an office, etc)

Other GFC All-Staff Expectations: (What is expected of me in this job?)

-Attend all GFC global leadership (ministry team) gatherings (Support event as needed)

-Serve as volunteer/team leader at Christmas and Easter services (One slot for PT, Two slots for FT staff)

-Attend yearly GFC Staff formation retreat

-At weekend services, park only in front of office tower or across Deereco Rd. Save close-in parking spaces for new guests
