Report

East Anglia picked up their second maximum of the summer in the Anaco Summer Super League when they beat Barnham Broom 17-3. Liam Nolan who has taken over from David Youngs at No.1 beat Matthew Bolt 3-1 while Youngs and Nick Stringer also won 3-1 against Alan Soames and Vince Somers respectively. Jack Pearse beat Ian Thompson in straight games and Youngs and Pearse then teamed up to take the one extra point from the one game of doubles.

Diss beat Oasis 16-5 with both Jack Bell and Dan Calver winning their matches in straight games while Tom Bobbins beat Mark Thomas 3-2 in the first string match. For Oasis Ali Ponder beat Andrew O’Toole 3-2 and then Diss took an extra point as Bell and Calver won the doubles.

In Division One North Norfolk won their third successive match beating Diss II 16-2. Kevin Blake, Paul Goodchild and Tim Perry all won their matches in straight games while Martin Guppy won the first string match against John Shaw 3-2. Barnham Broom II won 15-3 at home to Oasis II with Luke Plumridge, Adam Goodson and Adie Martin all winning their matches in straight games while the Oasis captain Richard Hall picked up his side’s three points as he beat Craig Matless 10-9 in the fifth.

The closest match of the summer to date took place at Bannatyne’s where the home club’s second team shared the points with Barnham Broom II in a 10-10 draw. For Bannatyne’s both Martin Browne and Jake Bond won their matches 3-1 against Craig Mattless and Luke Plumridge respectively but Barnham replied through Adie martin who came from behind to beat Andy Richardson 3-2 and captain Adam Goodson who won in straight games against Shaun Nicholas.

Barnham Broom III had two victories in Division Two winning 13-4 away against Oasis III and 14-5 against Cromer II. At Oasis both Jon Getley and the evergreen Pete Blackmore won in straight games while Steve Cooper won 3-1. Elliot Barker who beat Stuart Bowes was the one Oasis winner. At Cromer Cooper was beaten 3-1 by Martin Sanville but 3-1 wins for Getley and Blackmore and a 3-0 victory for Stuart Sutton against Ben Herrieven gave Barnham their bonus points.

Finally Wensum Lodge picked up a maximum as they beat Oasis III 16-3. Graham Woodford and Marco Valori both won in straight games while Steve Cunningham won 3-1 and Ian Pearson beat John Milton 3-2 in the first string match.
