The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has mandated the replacement of the ICD-9-CM code set used by medical coders and billers to report healthcare diagnoses and procedures with ICD-10 codes, effective October 1, 2015. ICD-10 implementation will change the way coding is done and will require a significant effort to implement. The time for ICD-10 implementation training is now!

Learn the new coding language that is ICD-10-CM. The training will include:

  • ICD-10-CM Code Set training led by an AAPC certified instructor
  • ICD-10 format and structure
  • In-depth review of the ICD-10 guidelines
  • Nuances found in the new coding system
  • ICD-10-CM Training Text and Coding Manual

This live, hands-on training class will be led by Kathleen G. Bailey, CPA, MBA, CPC, CPMA, CPC-I, CCS-P. Kathleen is an AAPC Licensed PMCC Instructorand Approved ICD-10-CM Code Set Trainer. She will help you understand the building blocks to ensure fluency with the new coding requirements prior to the October 2015 deadline.

The class will cover everything ICD-10, including but not limited to the documentation changes, the 4 scale rating of asthma severity, malignancies & the proper sequencing of complications, coma scale when coding trauma, under-dosing, 5 categories of diabetes, sepsis & causal relationships, sequela, and more.

Who Should Attend: All healthcare professionals are welcome, although this training was specifically designed for providers, clinical staff, coding & billing personnel, and medical records personnel.

What is the format: ICD-10-CM is made uptwenty-oneChapters. Each four-hour Workshop Session will cover 5 – 6 Chapters of the manual toprepare you for the AAPC ICD-10-CM proficiency test.

Session 1: May 16, 2015 (ICD-10-CM Format, Conventions, Guidelines & Chapter I)

Session 2: June 20, 2015 (ICD-10-CM Chapters II – VI)

Session 3: July 11, 2015 (ICD-10-CM Chapters VII –XIII)

Session 4: August 15, 2015 (ICD-10-CM Chapters XIV –XXI)
