Internet Explorer 8 - PACS Web Instructions:

Sectra PACS Web version IDS5 is not formally supported by Sectra under Internet Explorer 8. However, the following procedure has been used successfully at Northeast Hospitals.

This is the link to run Northeast Hospitals Sectra PACS across the web

Procedure

1.) Enter this site into IE8 and immediately click Favorites and then Add to Favorites to avoid having to type it again. Rename the shortcut NHS PACS. Be aware that IE8 does not always show a new site on the Favorites list after it has been added. You may need to add the site a second time – IE will say the site already exists on the list. Enter Yes to overwrite, and then the site shows up on the list.

In steps 2 through 4, we will change the IE8 security settings to allow PACS Web to run correctly.

2.) Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools then go to Internet Options.

3.) Click on the tab called Privacy. UnderPop-up Blocker, click on Settings and add the URL to the list of allowed sites by pasting the link and clicking Add. The screen should look like this:

When done, click Close and then OK.

4.) While still in the internet options window go to the tab called Security and click on the icon called Trusted Sites and then click on the button labeled Sites and add the URL to the list of Allowed Sites. The screen should look like this:

Again, click Close and then OK.

5.) Now click on the NHS PACS which you have added to your Favorites list. You will see the following message:

When you see this screen, always select No. Note that this behavior is different from previous versions of Internet Explorer.

6.) Next, you will see the following message:

Put your cursor at the end of the URL line, and backspace over everything after ids5web/ -- then hit enter.

7.) You will see the following folder contents:

Click on the install folder, and when it opens double-click on setup.exe.

8.) You will see the following message:

Select Run. You will see another similar screen – select Run on that screen also.

9.) When the application is done installing, click on your NHS PACS shortcut. You will be prompted to log in. At this point you can use PACS Web normally.

Notes

If you get a page like this (and nothing else):

Under the Tools pull-down menu, click on Compatibility View. Alternatively, you can go to Compatibility View Settings and add the site nhs-healthlink.org – but be aware that sites which use domain group policies (such as Northeast Hospitals) may overwrite these settings. In this situation you will need to click on Compatibility View each time you start PACS Web.

To set up a desktop icon: If you are using the electronic version of this document, drag the IE icon below to the Windows desktop and ensure it is accessible to all users. If you are not using the electronic version, you can also drag the icon next to the URL in IE8 to your desktop. Rename the icon “NHS PACS”

If there are problems with the install, turn off any software or OS firewall and try again. If there is a site firewall you may need to work with the site’s IT support person.
