LETTER TO UTTLESFORD DISTRICT COUNCILLORS
FROM PAUL AND NADIA OSGOOD
Dear Councillor
Planning Reference: UTT 0717 06 FUL
We recently moved back to this area in order to raise our young children
in the same environment that we were fortunate enough to enjoy when we
grew up. We found a house in Green Tye, next to Much Hadham; one of the
pretty, traditional little villages in the area and have been made to
feel very welcome with a conviviality that is unique outside a large
city. We instantly felt a sense of community, tranquillity, security
and well being.
We left London because this sprawling metropolis does not give the
quality of life we wanted for our children. However, the government's
relentless drive to develop the South East of England is slowly moving
the city environment ever closer. A significant catalyst is the
expansion of Stansted and its collateral construction.
The current government policy and subsidies for aviation directly
contradicts its supposed targets to tackle emissions and climate change
as flight growth looks to explode. We currently have five major
airports within the London Boundaries. Each is pushing to grow and with
it comes an overburdening of the infrastructure and utilities,
concreting over our unique British countryside to leave a bland
conurbation.
We seem intent on desecrating our country and society for the sake of
profits for the aviation industry, most of which is domiciled out of the
UK. We are on a course of self destruction by creating superfluous
journeys on discounted flights and accompanying development for a static
local population.
Hence we are very anxious to hear the UDC verdict to the BAA planning
application that could double the volume of flights. We depend upon our
trusted councillors to think hard about the irreversible impact that
this decision will have on the area for our future generations. Please
save this beautiful part of Hertfordshire and Essex!
Yours sincerely
Paul and Nadia Osgood
