Course Title: Computer & Technology Applications

Course Description: Students will use computer and software applications including word processing, presentation, database, spreadsheets, Internet, and e-mail to prepare elementary documents and reports. The impact of computers on society and ethical issues is presented.

- Students will plan, design, and create a database for a collection of items such as CD’s, baseball cards, etc.
- Students will invite a community leader or businessperson to discuss how they use various databases
- Students will design a web page for a local business or school
- Students will research the Internet and create a PowerPoint slide show advertising a local postsecondary institution (university, technical college, etc.)
- Students will create a presentation to promote available loan options for a local financial institution.
- Students will revise an agenda for an FBLA (or other student organization) meeting
- Students will key/format and enhance a multi-page report (such as annual report, job description manual, etc.) with text alignment, bolding, bullets, etc. Documents may include header/footer, long quotes, footnotes/endnotes
- Students will key/format numbered or bulleted to-do lists (homework assignment, shopping lists, etc.)
- Students will develop/format a spreadsheet for student grades
- Students will revise a spreadsheet for an FBLA fundraising activity incorporating shading, borders, centering title/headings; formatting figures for currency, percentages, decimal places, etc.; develop charts based on product sales, top fundraiser, etc.
- Students will develop/format a payroll spreadsheet for student employees of a school-based enterprise
- Students will prepare/format a membership roster for FBLA
- Students will prepare/format a presentation to recruit FBLA members; include clip art, bulleted lists, and apply template designs, etc.
