Assistant Manager Plato’s Closet
Role:
Assist Store Manager in creating and maintaining a physical and mental environment in the store that welcomes customers and leads them to stay in the store longer and buy more clothes.
Measurement of success:
You will be measured objectively by the success of the store – exceeding goals will be the norm. We expect you to lead with your performance by maintaining a personal ADS above the store average and exceeding goals while you are the MOD. As well, you will be measured subjectively on your leadership through your accountability to the store, your ability to follow and implement direction and by how you conduct yourself and influence the atmosphere of the store.
This will be accomplished with the following attitude and behavior:
· Working with the Principles of Swan Arts in the forefront of your mind at all times
· Being consistent in own performance
· Being proactive – keeping own emotions controlled and look for the best solutions for the customer and store when things do not go as planned or drama comes into the store
· By assisting with the hiring and training of team members
o interview all associates
o assist in training new associates and buyers as directed by the store manager
· By expressing clearly the expectations we have of our associates in helping customers and in doing tasks that improve the customer experience. Tools that apply to this daily are:
o the Daily To-Do’s
o chat in’s
o coaching associates prior to and after reviewing the job done on opening and closing checklists, and daily tasks
o providing input on the monthly employee one on one’s
· By holding self and staff accountable without fail and coaching behavior as it relates to:
o Service Standards
o What Guest service Looks Like
o Asset Protection Policies
o Loss Prevention Policies
Areas of Direct Responsibility
Maintaining the physical atmosphere of the store:
· Organize and direct the monthly cleaning party
· Keep track of cleaning supplies needed and request replenishment from the store manager
· Make all the necessary schedules and manuals to ensure all cleaning is done to exceed the expectations of the customers and owners
· Train and delegate cleaning duties
Maintaining the smooth operations of the store:
· Complete the Daily To-Do’s weekly for an entire week by the Thursday of the preceding week. Bring all opportunities in scheduling to the store manager. If format changes are necessary bring them to the attention of the manager and they will get the approval to make the changes permanent
· Review store supplies the first and 3rd weeks of each month using the supplies check list and request replenishment from the manager
· Maintain cleanliness of back counter areas including the computers
· Maintain organization in the counter area so customers trust the operations of the store and do not see piles of merchandise or equipment
· Maintain order beyond the counter area through expectation setting and training
· Coach staff in how to complete work flow behind the counter so all work is done on a timely basis while making sure you and other associates are out from behind the counter as quickly as possible

Loss Prevention:
· Audit each days closing paperwork weekly
· Retrain associates and managers on how to complete transactions and paperwork properly:
o tendering
o handling cash
o discounts and returns
o associate discounts and holds
o nightly closing paperwork and reporting
· Report all deviations to the established policies and procedures of Plato’s Closet and it’s asset protection policy
· Handle customer service situations with the stores best interest in mind
· Be aware of external theft issues or suspect buys and take appropriate action
Trend management:
· Participate in VIP mall visits regularly as scheduled by the manager
· Visit mall stores twice monthly and report to manager trend opportunities
· Organize quarterly mall trips for the entire store along with the manager
· Assist the store manager in floor moves and merchandising the store
· Assist the store manager in implementing the inventory management process
