Kareem Aziz, ICT Policy Specialist, CITST, GICT

Kareem Abdel Aziz is an ICT Policy Specialist with the Global Information and Communications Department. His responsibilities include strategy formulation for the department’s two units representing the IFC and World Bank. He is also GICT’s anchor Regional Coordinator for the World Bank’s South Asia Region, where he is responsible for coordinating the department’s overall workprogram for the region and related business development activities.In his previous role at the World Bank, Kareem was responsible for the development of the South Asia Region ICT Strategy for the World Bank (eSAR). The strategy included a three year program to develop the Bank’s ICT business in South Asia.

Prior to joining the World Bank, Kareem was a management consultant for Deloitte Consulting and Accenture. Kareem has an MBA from ColumbiaUniversity and an undergraduate degree, with honors, from RutgersUniversity.

Randeep Sudan, Senior ICT Specialist, CITPO, World Bank

Randeep Sudan, is a Senior ICT Policy Specialist with the Global ICT Department (GICT) of the World Bank. He leads GICT's practices on e-Government and IT industry development. He is currently working on ICT projects in Africa, Central Asia, East Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and South Asia. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2005, he held senior government positions in India, as a member of the Indian Administrative Service. He was Special Secretary to the Chief Minister and ex-officio Secretary Information Technology in the state of Andhra Pradesh and was closely associated with policies and strategies for leveraging ICT for development. He has been the Chief Executive of APFIRST an organization focused on promoting investments in the ICT sector, and also of AP Technology Services, a company specializing in the use of ICTs in government. His areas of expertise include ICT policy, e-government, investment promotion, infrastructure development and public-private partnerships. He has a MSc in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics and a MA in Economics from the JawaharlalNehruUniversity. He has taught as a visiting faculty at the Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo.

Manju Haththotuwa, Senior ICT Policy Specialist, SASFP

In his present role with the World Bank, Manju will advice & support our client countries to bring their e-development aspirations to fruition, in a practical way.Manju was the founding Managing Director/CEO of the National ICT Agency of Sri Lanka, which championed the e- Sri Lanka program from concept to implementation. He is also Advisor to His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka. He was a member of the cabinet appointed Public Sector Reform’s Committee of the GoSL. His involvement in Academia includes serving on the governing council of the Open University of Sri Lanka, which is leading the way countrywide in distance & e-learning. He is a thought leader in ICT and involved at a national level in policy making, working in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce, Trade Associations and Civil Society organizations.

Manju has also had a very successful career in private sector, rising to the top of the corporate ladder as the Chairman to the Board of a number of prestigious, public quoted companies. These include, Central Securities Ltd., Ceylon Oxygen Ltd., e-Channelling Ltd, Kothmale Group of companies & Kelsey Group of companies. Their areas of business span from finance & capital markets to property development, food, healthcare, manufacturing & ICT.

Prior to that, Manju was responsible for the global operations in US, India and Singapore of Millennium IT - one of the world’s leading capital markets trading software providers. He was also the founder Chairman of e-Channelling - a pioneering health services portal & Sri Lanka’s first technology IPO to be listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange. Before that he was MD /CEO of one of Sri Lanka’s largest multi–disciplinary engineering companies. Manju has also practiced the UK & Europe in management consultancy, as well as in engineering design, construction & project management of major infrastructure projects.

Manju is a Chartered Professional Engineer, with a demonstrable track record and substantial board experience in both government and the private sector, having a useful combination of technical and business skills gathered over two decades in IT, Engineering, National Development and Management Consultancy. Manju has a BSc (Hons) in Engineering from the prestigious ImperialCollege, London and a MBA with Distinction from the University of London.
