Position: Sensory Panel Leader/Technician

Based: Haddenham, Buckinghamshire

Currently we are looking for candidates for the position of Sensory Panel Leader/Technician to join a team based at our Centre of Expertise in Haddenham, UK. This role will be reporting directly to Sensory & Consumer Science Manager. If you have passion for flavour, food-related education and some experience with descriptive panel leading this could be a perfect job opportunity for you.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Co-ordinating of all daily panel activities (Descriptive Profiling, shelf life tests testing) from set up to execution
  • Acting as panel leader, leading panel discussions to develop appropriate vocabulary and training of panellists
  • Gathering and supporting analysis of sensory information within the department, according to recognised international guidelines
  • Managing the shelf life testing programmes
  • Supporting internal and external acceptability tests and discrimination tests as and when required
  • Maintaining of food safety best practise within the lab and working environment.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • A background in Sensory Science, Food Science or related discipline
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field with a Sensory/Consumer Science focus
  • At least 6 months of experience in descriptive panel leading
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Flexible approach to manage changing priorities
  • Ability to prioritise and meeting tight timelines
  • Excellent people skills and good communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team
  • Fully operational in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Sound knowledge of basic statistical analysis methods
  • Experience of data-capturing and statistical package (Compusense @ Hand, xlSTAT) would be a bonus
  • Enthusiastic about food.
