FIFTEENTH SUNDAY OF THE YEAR: The Missionary Church. “Go, tell my people,” is the command we have been given by God. And the message is the most stupendous one imaginable: that God has blessed us with all the spiritual blessings from heaven in Christ.

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY: this weekend we celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage and the joy of family, especially as celebrated in Holy Baptism. All those who wish to give thanks are welcome to the 10.30 Mass where there will be a blessing for married couples marking a special anniversary, and parents of children who have been baptised in the last year or two. Afterwards there will be celebratory refreshments in the Parish Centre.

AMORIS LAETITIA the Joy of Love was the Document published by Pope Francis following the Synod of Bishops in Rome. It celebrates the wonder of Marriage and Family, and will be at the centre of a world meeting of families in Dublin at the end of August. Pope Francis will attend and a pilgrimage group, led by Archbishop Longley, is going from the Diocese. On Sunday 26 August there will be the climax of the meeting with a televised Mass and a Homily, by Pope Francis, which we plan to watch in the Parish Centre. Please put the date in your diary. All are welcome.

THE SUFFERING BODY OF CHRIST: the reality of the persecuted Church today, especially in Syria and Iraq. On Tuesday 24 July at 7pm with Bishop Robert Byrne and John Pontifex in St George and St Teresa Church and Centre. Arranged by Aid to the Church in Need. Do set this evening aside and let friends know – Posters in the Narthex.

BAPTISM this Sunday for baby Freddie Bettles. Our prayers are with him and his family as he enters new life in Christ.

FUNERAL WILLIAM LALLY: Thursday 19 July at 11.30am Requiem Mass. Burial at Widney Manor. May he rest in peace.

COACH TO ADOREMUS PILGRIMAGE in Liverpool on the occasion of the Eucharistic Congress Sunday 9 September: leaving 5.45am and returning for 8.30pm, cost £15.00. Mass at the Catholic Cathedral, followed by a break for visits and lunch, and then the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament between the Anglican and Catholic Cathedrals at 1pm. There is a clip board to sign up in the Narthex after Masses this weekend. For further information please contact Denise Williams

ALTAR SERVERS: new volunteers are invited to a training session on Saturday 21 July at 4pm.

BAPTISTERY: due to illness there is a further delay with the completion of the stained glass surrounding the font in the new Baptistery. We anticipate the blessing taking place toward the end of August. Apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment.

CONFIRMATION CLASSES: for children who do not attend Catholic Schools will take place in the Autumn Term and begin in Sept. They will held onSaturdays at 4.30- 5.30pm in the Parish Centre. Children shouldbe in Y6 and aged 10 or above. Please email Christine Perks ()to register your interest.

MOTHER & TODDLER GROUP: It has been suggested by a number of our Mums from our Mother & Toddler Group that a Rota be drawn up in order to run our Group which meets on a Wednesday afternoon during term time. A minimum of 2 people would be required for each session and obviously the more people who commit the better. If you feel you could help out, please contact Daphne Morgan (07909 835 665) or Vanessa Wilson (07964 982 611). Our Mother & Toddler Group has been running for 14 years and it would be a shame to see it fold.

NIGERIA: A NEW EMERGENCY due to attacks on the Catholic and Christian Churches by Islamist extremists. Aid to the Church in Need is supporting our suffering brothers and sisters. See the ACN report in the Narthex this weekend shows how it is offering hope to the Church there.

ANNUAL ROSARY RALLY at Mount St. Bernard Abbey, Leicestershire, on Sunday 26 August, commencing with Mass at 2.00pm. For details see poster on notice board.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK: the total collected by all the Churches amounted to £11,844.00. See letter on the notice board. Thank you again to all who collected from G+T, and to all who contributed.

SCHOOL LEAVERS MASS: Thursday 19 July at 7pm in St George and St Teresa School. Our prayers and good wishes go out to the young people leaving St George and St Teresa School to go to Secondary Schools. May they have success academically and growth in their spiritual lives.

WEDNESDAY WORD: the weekly reflection on the Gospel for the following Sunday is available in the Narthex for next Sunday. Do take a copy.
