Background
Marketing is not only the commercial transactions of buying and selling of fresh produce, it is another industry whereby just the distribution alone has many factors; the handling, loading and unloading, grading, packaging, storage and finally dispersing to the customer. In addition to distribution, farmers must also consider production, planning and dissemination of market information, the need of the consumer, transport and communication links, the preferences of the consumers and what they can afford.
In the past, Israel has put the emphasis on marketing organizations that were running then on a cooperative basis. Today this evolved into a mixed system involving a variety of approaches which co-exist within the framework of a market economy.
