IU13 And Head Start Behavior Collaboration For Children Having IEPs

Please reference the attached Lancaster Head Start Approach to Social Emotional Development and Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Procedures(PW-PBIS) handout when reviewing the steps below. The Head Start Staff and IU13 Staff responsibilities are outlined under each step.

Lower Targeted Level:

(Head Start Responsibilities)

·  The Regional Manager will email the IU13 Lead Service Provider and Heather Snyder to inform them they are moving into the Lower Targeted Level of the Pyramid Model for the student.

·  A Head Start Teacher Support Plan will be developed and copies given to the IU13 Lead and Heather Snyder

(IU13 Responsibilities)

·  The IU13 Lead will provide any requested input regarding the student’s targeted behaviors

Upper Targeted Level:

(Head Start Responsibilities)

·  The Regional Manager will email the IU13 Lead Service Provider and Heather Snyder to inform them that they are moving to the Upper Targeted Level of the Pyramid Model. A Positive Behavior Support Plan will be developed for the child.

·  A meeting with the student’s parents will be scheduled and the IU13 Lead and Heather Snyder will be invited.

·  If neither is able to attend, updates after the meeting will be provided via email.

(IU13 Responsibilities)

·  IU13 Lead will offer any behavioral data they may have compiled

·  If attending the parent meeting, take an IEP invite, copy of the IEP and Signature Page

·  If the IEP is discussed and/or any revisions made (i.e. adding strategies, updating Present Education Levels, changing or adding goals); the Invite should be signed along with the IEP Meeting Attendance page.

Tertiary Level:

(Head Start Responsibilities)

·  The Education, Behavior, and Disabilities Specialist will email the IU13 Lead Service Provider and Heather Snyder To inform them that they are moving to the Tertiary Level of the Pyramid Model.

·  A Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support Plan will be completed.

(IU13 Responsibilities)

·  The IU13 Lead should schedule an IEP Meeting

·  The IU13 Lead will need to invite the Head Start Program Manager and Jennifer Hatch

·  At the IEP Meeting the ‘Behavior Box’ should be checked on the Special Considerations Page and the Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support Plan should be attached to the IEP

·  Within the Present Levels Section of the IEP a statement should be included regarding when a follow-up meeting will be held to discuss the student’s progress with the Behavior Support Plan
