Fantasy ECOSYSTEM

Overview: You are to create a unique ecosystem with several interesting and original organisms. Use your imagination! No organism should be a real organism on planet earth, but can mimic organisms on earth.

Step One: Create your Ecosystem à refer to rubric

-  Location

-  Biological Community

o  Specie characteristics

-  Physical components of Ecosystem

Step Two: Identify a disturbance that can affect the species in your ecosystem.

-  Type of Disturbance that is introduced in your ecosystem

o  Climate change: warming, cooling, change in water/nutrients

o  Direct human interference: hunting/harvesting, land clearing, pesticides/herbicides, introduction of foreign species

-  How is the above disturbance affecting your four species:

o  Extinct: Species which are completely decimated.

o  Endangered: Species which are in imminent danger of extinction.

o  Threatened: Species which are at significant risk of becoming endangered but are not in immediate danger of becoming extinct.

o  No expected change: Species with moderate to large populations, whose numbers are expected to remain stable.

o  Increased: Species whose populations increase. May be potential pests.
