Sweepstakes classes are open to all Shetland Sheepdogs who, on the day of the show, will be 6 months of age and under 18 months of age. Champions of Record are NOT eligible. Dogs shown in sweepstakes must also be entered in one of the regular classes at the regular entry fee and on the regular entry form, shown as “Additional Class.”

This is a condensed Premium List as authorized by the American Kennel Club, “Rules Applying to Dog Shows,” Chapter 6, Section 2A. A complete list of trophies & prizes are available upon request to the Show Secretary. All trophy donors will be listed in the catalog. Trophies must be claimed on the day of the show. No trophies will be mailed. Unclaimed trophies become the property of the host club.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION

OFFERED AT FRIDAY, SATURDAY AM & SUNDAY SHOWS ONLY

NOVICE CLASS – For boys and girls at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three (3) first place awards with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.

OPEN CLASS – For boys and girls at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three (3) first place in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice Class.

MASTER CLASS - This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won the ten (10) first place wins in an Open Class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will consistent with eligibility dates for the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year.

NOTICE: Junior Handlers must include their JUNIOR HANDLER NUMBER on each entry.

BE SURE ALL INFORMATION for Junior Showmanship classes is entered on front and back of entry form.

NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS

CHALKING WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING and OUTDOORS. Clean up after your dog. Failure to do so can result in an Event Committee Hearing. Grooming tables are allowed in the grooming area only. No grooming tables are allowed at ringside.

We encourage exhibitors to set ex-pens up outside.

The Central Virginia & Blue Ridge Shetland Sheepdog Club members, their agents, employees, etc., assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assume no responsibility for injury to or by children. Space for un-entered dogs will not be provided at this show under conditions specified in Chapter 15, Section 12 of the Dog Show Rules and Regulations.

Errors on Entry Forms: Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors and no entry will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellations of entries after the published date.

All dogs present must be on a leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in an exercise pen. Place all trash in provided cans or plastic bags.

Class cash prizes will be paid in the ring to the person showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be made in the ring before the judging of that breed is over, and the show giving club disclaims any liability for cash prizes. None will be mailed.

Entries close at 6:00pm, Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the address of the Show Secretary, after which time entries cannot be accepted, cancelled or substituted. Telephone and unsigned entries cannot be accepted. Entries not on official AKC entry forms are not acceptable. Entries received without fees will not be accepted. Please make all checks payable to Blue Ridge Shetland Sheepdog Club (BRSSC). Checks for entry fees must be drawn on US banks. Clubs reserve the right to charge a processing fee for checks drawn on foreign funds.

A $3.00 AKC Event Service Fee and a Recording Fee of $0.50 will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show, Obedience Trial, or Tracking test. These Event and Recording Fees are to be collected by the show giving club and paid to the AKC. If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show, these fees are to be collected on the first day entered (AKC Rules, Chapter 11, Section 1).
